An escalator or moving walkway comprises a balustrade base, an illumination profile disposed in the base and a transparent cover through which illumination is provided. An illumination strip is located within the illumination profile, and has a plurality of LED lamps. A reflecting surface is provided on the illumination profile, and is aligned such that at least a portion of the light emitted by the LED lamps impinging upon the surface is reflected in the direction of the cover, facilitating an even level of illumination.

Escalator or moving walkway with LED illumination

A passenger transportation system, such as an escalator or moving walk, contains a circulating band, a driving station, and a reversing station. The driving station is arranged in the area of a first end of the passenger transportation system and has a slave control unit. The reversing station in the area of a second end of the passenger transportation system has a master control unit. For the purpose of exchanging data, the master control unit and the slave control unit are connected together by a data bus. The slave control unit has a first printed circuit board on which is mounted a first set of electronic components and which serves to transmit to the master control unit data concerning the functioning of the passenger transportation system. The master control unit has a second printed circuit board on which is mounted a second set of electronic components and which serves to analyze the data and control of the passenger transportation system. The first and second boards are identically constructed and may have identical sets of electronic components.

Passenger transportation system especially an escalator or moving walk

The invention relates to a method for stopping conveying equipment for persons of the type that includes a drive motor, a frequency converter for controlling motor operation, and a holding brake. On activation of a safety element a the frequency converter decreases the speed of the drive motor according to a pre-established braking ramp, the holding brake being activated before standstill of the conveying equipment. Operational safety of the braking system is thus increased.

Method of stopping conveying equipment for persons

The invention relates to a method for stopping conveying equipment for persons, wherein on response of a safety element a braking process performed by a frequency converter co-operating with a drive motor is initiated, by means of which the conveying equipment for persons is brought to a standstill, wherein the braking process is monitored by a safety circuit which comprises at least a first channel and a second channel. The operational safety of the braking system is thereby increased.

Method for stopping conveying equipment for persons

Equipment for monitoring an approach area of a moving belt apparatus (1), such as an escalator or a travelling walkway, and for controlling a drive for the belt includes light sensors (12) arranged in handrail entry caps (11) of balustrades (3). Each light sensor (12) has an emitter (15) and a receiver (16) and operates with, for example, infrared beams. The light sensors (12) monitor the access to the moving belt apparatus (1) in a specific region (13) in front of an entry to the belt (2), for example, the region of the threshold plate (14). On stepping into the monitoring region (13) of the light sensor (12), the beams emitted by the emitter (15) are reflected by the person and sensed by the associated receiver (16) to switch on the drive.
