A method for handling flat objects, in particular sanitary products, such as nappies, sanitary towels or the like, wherein a group of objects is subjected to a compression operation in a compression device so that the group of objects has a degree of compression as a result of the compression. A plurality of compression devices are arranged one after the other so that the group of objects which is compressed with a compression device is supplied to the following compression device with the respective degree of compression thereof and is further compressed in this compression device in order to achieve a higher degree of compression.

Method and device for handling (flat) objects

The invention relates to a device for grouping (flat) articles (), in particular hygiene products such as diapers, wherein the articles () to be grouped are conveyable individually and one after another on a feed conveyor () and are suppliable to a grouping conveyor (). The invention is characterized in that the grouping conveyor () has compartments () for in each case one group () of articles (), in which compartments the articles () are arranged preferably standing upright, in particular tightly packed together, wherein the articles () are suppliable by means of the feed conveyor () at an angle, in particular substantially transversely, with respect to the conveying direction of the grouping conveyor () and are conveyable in the conveying direction of the grouping conveyor () by way of a substantially cone-shaped conveyor () thus forming a group () of articles () in one compartment ().

Device and method for grouping articles

A powerful throughput magazine of the 'first in first out' type is activated for the handling of diapers () or similar objects during the transport from a converter () to a packer (), the diapers being transported as diaper groups () through said magazine. The magazine () comprises of an endless magazine conveyor () having transversely directed bars (), wherein one diaper group () each is disposed between adjacent bars on the magazine conveyor () in an upright position. After removing the diapers () from the magazine (), the diaper groups () are separated again, and the diapers are individually fed to the packer ().

Device for handling diapers

For the purpose of packaging diapers (), the latter are fed to a grouping arrangement () in order to produce diaper groups () from a plurality of diapers () positioned closely one beside the other. The diaper groups () are fed along a plurality of conveying paths, in particular along two removal conveyors () located one beside the other or one above the other, to a (multi-path) packaging machine or a plurality of packaging machines.

Method of, and apparatus for, handling nappies

A method and device to form packing units () consisting of at least two packs (). To this end, the successively conveyed packs () are tilted by 90&#xb0; in the region of a turning line () in such a way that the associated packs () are oriented towards each other in the correct relative position for the packing unit (). Every second pack () is delayed during the turning process so that it can be oriented towards the associated pack ().

Device for producing packing units from at least two packs

For the dispatch-ready packing of, in particular, cigarette packs or cigarette bundle packs (), a device is provided, in which the box packer () and the palleting station () are combined, in order to introduce the bundle packs () into boxes () and to deposit the latter on pallets (). The structurally combined units form an overall device which can be operated jointly.

Device for producing and palleting packaging boxes

For the checking of cigarettes for their correct formation in terms of a sufficient tobacco content, electrooptical test processes have been employed for a relatively long time. The use of these processes has hitherto made it necessary to employ high-performance sensitive sensors in order to obtain definite test results. The new process and the corresponding apparatus are intended to make it possible to check cigarettes by the reflection process, especially in a cigarette conveyor (cigarette turret), in which accurate results can be obtained in short test times by means of a simple test device. By means of a special arrangement of the electrooptical sensors for the checking of the cigarettes in test units moved relative to the cigarettes to be checked, it is possible for the cigarettes to be checked for a correct tobacco content, by contactless sensing, either during stationary phases or during rotational movement of the cigarette conveyor (cigarette turret). At the same time, the high reflecting capacity of cigarette paper is utilized for checking the tobacco content.

Process and apparatus for the checking of cigarettes

For the testing of cigarettes (11, 11a, 11b) within a cigarette magazine (10), there is a test unit (21) which is arranged at a distance above magazine shafts (17) or a cigarette store (14) for these. In the test unit (21), the cigarettes run in vertical cigarette rows (24) through a number of test shafts (22) arranged next to one another. Within these, individual cigarettes (11a) are fixed by clamping in the region of a clamping plane (37) temporarily, in particular at least for the duration of a test cycle. The cigarettes are tested in the region of a test plane (28) at a distance above the clamping plane (37). The cigarette row (24) is temporarily supported at the bottom, on the outlet side of the test unit (21) by carrying webs (39) or carring fingers (46). During the clamping of cigarettes (11a) in the region of the clamping plane (37), the test shafts (22) are opened at the bottom, so that the tested cigarettes can be fed to the cigarette store (14) as a result of their own weight.
