Calender and process for operating calender depending upon a desired surface quality, in which calender includes a plurality of nips located between end nips formed by replaceable rolls and end rolls. Process includes selectively guiding a web though several nips of calender and at least one end nip of calender, and when the web is selectively guided through the at least one end nip, selectively replacing the replaceable roll with one of a hard and a soft roll to form the at least one end nip with a hard roll and a soft roll or with two soft rolls. The replaceable roll being connectable to a temperature control device operated with a tempering capacity that depends on the type of the replaced roll. Method for operating a multi-roll calendar and a calendar

A method and a dispersing machine for hot dispersing a highly consistent fibrous stock. The machine includes at least one stationary stator that includes a plurality of annular concentric rows of stator teeth. At least one rotating rotor is provided that includes a plurality of annular concentric rows of rotor teeth. An annular dispersing zone is formed by the stator teeth and the rotor teeth whereby the rotor teeth are adapted to rotate adjacent the stator teeth such that a distance is maintained between the stator teeth and the rotor teeth in the annular dispersion zone. An inlet is provided that allows the fibrous stock to enter the dispersion machine. A milling element is centrally arranged on the rotor. The milling element is arranged near the inlet and defines a milling zone. An annular chamber is arranged between the dispersion zone and the milling zone. At least one conduit allows a heating medium to enter the annular chamber. At least one rotatable annular centrifugal row of teeth is arranged between the milling element and the annular chamber. The method includes transporting the fibrous stock via the inlet to the milling zone, rotating the milling element to subject the fibrous stock to milling, allowing the fibrous stock to pass by the at least one rotatable annular centrifugal row of teeth, subjecting the fibrous stock to the heating medium in the annular chamber, and moving the fibrous stock through the dispersion zone.

Device for hot dispersing fibrous paper stock and a method hot dispersing the stock

Process and device for dispersing a fibrous paper web which comprises a substantially consistent fibrous paper material. The device includes an inlet for fibrous paper material, a stationary stator, and at least one rotatable rotor. The stator and the at least one rotor form a pulverizing zone including a pulverizing element located near the inlet for the fibrous paper material, the pulverizing element including least one of scrapers and knives for pulverizing the fibrous material into a fine, friable material; a vapor chamber forming a ring about the pulverizing zone, the vapor chamber being for calefying the fine, friable material formed by the pulverizing element; and a dispersing zone including at least one row of teeth on the stator and at least one row of teeth on the at least one rotor which can be moved relative to the at least one row of teeth of the stator.

Process and device for the dispersion of a fibrous paper material

Calender that includes a stand, an upper roll, a lower roll, and at least two center rolls arranged between the upper and the lower rolls. The calender also includes at least two cylinders, where the at least two center rolls are supported on the stand by the at least two cylinders. Each of the at least two cylinders include a discharge path that is controlled over more than &frac34; of a piston stroke for lowering the at least two center rolls.

Process and decker for bringing together a first aqueous pulp suspension layer with at least one additional suspension layer. The process includes moving the first pulp suspension layer and the at least one additional suspension layer on moving layer supports, and guiding sides of the first pulp suspension layer and the at least one additional suspension layer that are adapted to contact each other on guiding surfaces that are one of stationary and limitedly moving. The guide surfaces include contoured surfaces arranged to run substantially parallel to the layer supports. The process further includes applying the at least one additional suspension layer onto the first pulp suspension layer at a wedge-shaped gap, and draining the first pulp suspension layer and the at least one additional suspension layer. The decker includes at least one rotating cylinder, and an endless wire guided around at least a portion of an outer circumference of the at least one rotating cylinder. The at least one rotating cylinder and the endless wire form a wedge-shaped gap. The decker also includes a first suspension introducing device for introducing a first suspension layer into the wedge-shaped gap, a displacer arranged upstream from the wedge-shaped gap that includes first and second guide surfaces, in which the first guide surface is arranged to be substantially parallel to a portion of the outer circumference of the at least one rotating cylinder adjacent thereto and the second guide surface is arranged to be substantially parallel to a portion of the endless wire adjacent thereto. At least one second suspension introducing device for introducing at least one second suspension layer into the wedge-shaped gap is also provided. The at least one second suspension introducing device is positioned to introduce the at least one second suspension layer upstream of the wedge-shaped gap and between the at least one rotating cylinder and the displacer.

Process and a decker for bringing together two suspension layers

A process for producing a fitting for the mechanical processing of aqueous fiber stock and a fitting made by the process. The fitting includes at least one base body and at least one processing element. The process includes producing at least one hard material body which forms at least a portion of the at least one processing element, and penetrating the at least one hard material body with a binder and permanently bonding the at least one hard material body and the binder.

Fittings and process for producing fittings for the mechanical processing of aqueous paper stock

Fittings and machine and process for production of the fittings and machine for a mechanical processing of suspended fibrous material that include at least one base and at least one processing element adapted to be exposed to flow of a fibrous suspension during operation. The process for producing the fittings may include separately producing the at least one base and the at least one processing element, placing an elastic bonding material between contact surfaces of the at least one base and the at least one processing element, and elastically bonding the at least one base and the at least one processing element without melting the processing elements. The process for producing the machine may include forming at least one of the at least two fittings by separately producing the at least one base and the at least one processing element, placing an elastic bonding material between contact surfaces of the at least one base and the at least one processing element, and elastically bonding the at least one base and the at least one processing element without melting the processing elements, mounted for relative movement to each other, and mounting the at least two fittings for movement relative to each other. The fittings may include a base adapted for attachment to a processing machine, at least one processing element adapted to be exposed to a stream of a fibrous material suspension during operation of the fitting, and an elastic layer located between the base and at least one processing element to couple the at least one processing element to the base. The machine may include at least two fittings mounted for relative movement to each other. At least one of the at least two fittings may include at least one base that is at least one of rotatably and non-rotatably mounted, at least one processing element adapted to be exposed to the suspended fibrous material, and an elastic layer located between the base and at least one processing element to couple the at least one processing element to the base.

Process for the production of fittings and of a machine for the mechanical processing of suspended fibrous material as well as fittings and a machine produced according to the process

Process for dispersing a fibrous paper web which comprises a substantially consistent fibrous paper material. The process includes loosening and pulverizing a fibrous paper material into a fine, friable fibrous material; guiding the fine, friable fibrous material into a vapor chamber in which at least one of a gaseous and vaporous heating medium mixes, calefies, and disperses the fine, friable fibrous material; and dispersing the fine, friable fibrous material in a disperser zone, the disperser zone and the vapor chamber being located in one device. A device for dispersing a fibrous paper web which comprises a substantially consistent fibrous paper material. The device includes an inlet for fibrous paper material, a stationary stator, and at least one rotatable rotor. The stator and the at least one rotor form a pulverizing zone including a pulverizing element located near the inlet for the fibrous paper material, the pulverizing element including least one of scrapers and knives for pulverizing the fibrous material into a fine, friable material; a vapor chamber forming a ring about the pulverizing zone, the vapor chamber being for calefying the fine, friable material formed by the pulverizing element; and a dispersing zone including at least one row of teeth on the stator and at least one row of teeth on the at least one rotor which can be moved relative to the at least one row of teeth of the stator.

A process is disclosed that is utilized in particular in the preparation of fibrous material of used paper. Hot fibrous pulp friable materials, which are especially suitable for dispersing, are first formed in a compact, high-consistency fibrous material in the form of a plug. In a preferred embodiment, the plug of materials is pushed against a rotor that is equipped with pulverization elements. The pulverization elements remove the fibrous pulp friable materials and distribute them in a disintegrated condition in a processing chamber. In the processing chamber, super-heated vapor is supplied via vapor supply lines, which calefies the fibrous pulp friable materials, for example, by condensation.

Process and devices for manufacturing a hot friable material

Process and device for draining a fibrous pulp suspension. The process may include positioning two surfaces to converge in a downstream direction, feeding the fibrous pulp suspension between the two converging surfaces, driving at least one of the two converging surfaces to move the suspension with a relative translational velocity, and draining the fibrous pulp suspension through each of the two surfaces. The device may include two arcuate surfaces positioned to form converging surfaces. One of the two arcuate surfaces may include a drivable, pivotable, and rotatable cylinder having an outer sleeve with openings, the other of the two arcuate surfaces may include a screen positioned to be guided around at least a portion of the outer sleeve. The screen and the openings may form drains for draining the fluid pulp suspension.

The invention is directed to a processing apparatus which can be used, for example, to disperse highly consistent fibrous paper substances. The apparatus consists of at least two intermeshed processing tools (1, 2), which are movable with respect to one another and which are provided with teeth (3, 3', 3', 4, 4'). The fibrous substance that is being processed passes along a gap between the processing tools and finally leaves the apparatus through an expulsion mechanism (8) that allows the adjustment of the size of the exit opening through which the substance exits. The control of the size of the exit opening allows control over the degree of compression acting on the substance and the fill level of the apparatus, both of which in effect control the process intensity.

Apparatus for regulated dispersion treatment of highly consistent

Treatment tools for the mechanical treatment of high-consistency fibrous material, and preferably for dispersing waste paper. The treatment tools are provided with teeth and are moved past one another with tight spacing so that the fibrous material disposed between treatment tool may be subjected to high shearing forces. Because of the intense loading of the teeth, the teeth may be arranged together in groups. The groups established according to at least two different, predetermined axial length gaps between each of the teeth of the treatment tools. As a result, a higher mechanical strength of the teeth is achieved and a large through flow area is offered for the material to be treated.
