A flexible polymeric container for holding albumin. The container is made of a sheet of flexible polymeric film formed into a bag having a cavity enclosed by a first wall, an opposing second wall, and seals about a periphery of the first and second walls. The seals join an interior portion of the opposing first and second walls and create a fluid-tight chamber within the cavity of the container for storing a concentration of the albumin. A method of packaging the albumin protein into a flexible polymeric container is also provided. Therein a flexible polymeric material is converted into bags, the bags are filled with a quantity of albumin by a filler, and a seal area of the bags is sealed to enclose the albumin within the bag.

An in-line web-centering apparatus for centering a web of material in an aseptic internal area of a form-fill-seal packaging machine. The web-centering apparatus has a support member, a tracking assembly, and an alignment mechanism, each contained within the internal aseptic area of the packaging machine. The support member is internally fixed to the form-fill-seal packaging machine. The tracking assembly is mounted to the support member and pivots about the support member. The pivoting of the tracking assembly positions the tracking assembly at an angle with respect to the support member, such that when the alignment mechanism is activated the angle of the tracking assembly is modified, thereby adjusting a flow path of the web of material in the packaging machine.

Flexible container for medical liquids

A port and closure assembly is provided. The port and closure assembly comprises a port including a tubular portion that extends from a base, the tubular portion terminating at an end including an opening. A closure is provided for sealing at least a portion of the end of the port, the port and closure being constructed from materials that create a tack seal when the closure is positioned on the port and the port and closure are sterilized, the tack seal functioning to secure the closure to the port.

Closure and port assembly

A port assembly for a container is provided. The port assembly includes an elongated tube extending from an end of a base, the tube defining a tubular bore for receiving a member for accessing the container. The tubular bore includes a membrane for separating the tubular bore into a first portion and second portion, the first portion being closer to the container than the second portion. A resealing injection site is mechanically locked within the second portion of the channel. A method for making the port assembly is also provided.

Port assembly for a container

An apparatus for placing a folded web of film under tension comprising at least one pair of rollers, a first side of the folded web of film being fed between the pair of rollers, the pair of rollers being mounted out of parallel to the first side of the folded web of film and pulling the first side of the folded web of film in a first direction, and a member for preventing a second side of the folded web of film from moving in the first direction. Preferably, the member biases the second side of the folded web of film in a second direction opposite the first direction. A method for placing a folded web of film under tension is also provided.

Apparatus for placing a web of film under tension

A method is disclosed for making containers (40) in which a sheet of thermoplastic material (10) that is adapted to be formed into a pouch is introduced into a mold cavity (14). A molding compound (22) is also introduced into the mold cavity (14). The molding compound (22) is permitted to be bonded with the thermoplastic sheet (10) inside the mold cavity (14) to form a container port (20) in situ. The thermoplastic sheet (10) and bonded molding compound (22) are removed from the mold cavity (14) and the sheet carrying the port (20) formed from the bonded molding compound is folded and cut to form a container (40).

Method for making containers having ports

A closure for removably sealing a port is provided. The closure includes a guide member receivable within an opening of a port and a sleeve member extending for a length of the guide member and defining with the guide member an annular channel, at least a portion of the port being received within the annular channel when the closure seals the port, the inner circumference of the sleeve member being sufficiently small to exert a retaining force around the portion of the port so received securing the closure onto the port. The closure includes a handle member having a reduced thickness portion, upon the application of a pulling force on the handle member the reduced thickness portion will stretch before the retaining force exerted by the closure on the port is overcome.

An apparatus for sealing a web of film including a heater member for melting a portion of the film to create side and chevron seals. A back-up bar is located diametric the heater member. The heater member includes two elongated heater bars and two wing heater bars.

Apparatus for sealing a web of film

An apparatus for severing a web of film in a form, fill and seal packaging machine. The apparatus includes a removable knife and a holder for removably receiving the knife. The holder includes a channel having a pivot pin and a reduced cross-sectional portion. The knife includes a notch for pivoting on the pivot pin.
