A horizontal lifeline shuttle apparatus is provided. The horizontal lifeline shuttle apparatus includes an attachment portion, a body portion, and a cable channel. The body portion is configured to at least partially surround a portion of a cable so as to retain the portion of the cable within a cable channel The attachment portion is configured to move relative to the body portion based at least in part on the motion of the moveable pin fixedly secured thereto. At least a portion of the moveable pin is disposed within each of a plurality of moveable pin guide grooves positioned within the body portion such that a range of motion of the moveable pin is defined at least in part by the plurality of moveable pin grooves. At least one of the plurality of moveable pin grooves comprises a vertical portion.

A locking system for fall protection and a method of manufacturing the same are provided. An example locking system includes a housing. The housing defines a guide path through which the housing is slideably attached to a guide member. The locking system also includes a braking lever having a braking end that is configured to engage the guide member. The braking lever includes a shock absorber configured to deform during a fall instance. The locking system further includes a secondary braking feature configured independent from the braking lever. The secondary braking feature is an inertial structure configured to rotate into engagement with the guide member during the fall instance. A corresponding method of manufacturing is also provided.

A locking system is provided for fall protection. The locking system includes a housing. The housing defines a guide path through which the housing is slideably attached to a guide member. The locking system also includes a braking lever having a braking end. The braking lever is configured to rotate so as to allow the braking end to engage the guide member. The guide path defines at least one bending slot configured to allow the housing to deform in response to a predetermined amount of force being applied by the guide member upon the housing. A Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) controller may include a housing, a display, a printed wiring board, a flextail, and a temperature sensor. The housing may be configured to house the display, the printed wiring board, the flextail, and the temperature sensor. The flextail may extend from, for example, the display or other component of the HVAC controller, along the interior surface of the housing, and connect to a connector on the printed wiring board. The temperature sensor may be mounted on the flextail, and connected to the printed circuit board via the flex tail or other connection. In some cases, the temperature sensor may be positioned on the flextail such that when the flextail is connected to the printed wiring board, the temperature sensor is positioned adjacent a lower part of the housing, where less internal heat generated by the internal electrical components of the HVAC controller will reside.

A method of controlling an HVAC system can include receiving audio that includes a predefined trigger phrase followed by a voice command to change a set point temperature of the HVAC system to a requested set point value, converting the audio into a natural language audio stream, identifying the predefined trigger phrase in the natural language audio stream, transmitting a part of the natural language audio stream that includes the voice command to a remote web service for identifying the voice command therein, receiving a first building control device command generated by and from the remote web service at a building control device when the requested set point value is within a predetermined range, and receiving a second building control command generated by and from the remote web service at the building control device when the requested set point value is outside of the predetermined range.

Devices and methods for interacting with an HVAC controller

An HVAC controller may include a first sub-assembly and a second sub-assembly releasably securable to the first sub-assembly. The first sub-assembly may include a housing having the back and a cover, a printed circuit board at least substantially enclosed by the housing, a battery compartment formed in the back of the housing for receiving one or more batteries, and a display exposed for viewing through an aperture in the cover of the housing for viewing the display by a user. The printed circuit board may include one or more battery terminals that extend from the printed circuit board through the back of the housing and into the battery compartment. In some cases, the battery compartment may define a cup-shaped reservoir that may be configured to collect leakage from one or more of the batteries.

A Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) controller includes a first cover secured to a second cover, with HVAC components housed by the first cover and the second cover. The first cover may include two or more latches to secure the first cover to the second cover. In some cases, the second cover may include two or more latch receivers each configured to receive one of the two or more latches of the first cover as the first cover and the second cover are brought together. The first and second covers may include one or more guide features. The guide features may be configured to guide movement of the first cover relative to the second cover as the first cover and the second cover are brought together.

A thermostat that is configured to be releasably secured to a wall mountable connector, wherein the wall mountable connector includes a jumper switch that permits an installer or other professional to easily form an electrical connection between different wiring terminals of the wall mountable connector in accordance with how particular field wires are connected to the wiring terminals of the wall mountable connector. The thermostat is further configured to automatically determine the position of the jumper switch of the wall mountable connector, and in some cases, change the control of at least some functionality of the thermostat and/or HVAC equipment depending on the position of the jumper switch.

An HVAC controller may be controlled in response to a natural language audio message that is not recognizable by the HVAC controller as a command, where the natural language audio message is translated into a command recognizable by the HVAC controller. The HVAC controller may be a thermostat including a housing that houses a temperature sensor, a microphone, and a controller. The controller may identify a trigger phrase in an audio stream provided by the microphone. In response to identifying the trigger phrase, the controller initiates processing of the audio stream to identify a command following the trigger phrase and to generate a command understandable by the thermostat that instructs the controller to perform the identified command. The controller then executes the generated command understandable by the thermostat. A user may communicate with the thermostat via the microphone of the thermostat and/or a remote device having a microphone.
