Method and device for obtaining and detecting immunologically active substances from the gas phase

The present invention concerns a multivalent dextran reagent for use in a precipitation test for the determination of a specifically bindable substance comprising dextran to which several molecules of a receptor R.sub.1 which is capable of specific binding to the substance to be determined or of the specifically bindable substance or of an analogue of this substance are bound or can be bound.

The present invention provides a process for immobilizing a protein or protein containing substance. The material to be immobilized is aggregated, contacted in a liquid with a hydrophilic solid phase and the solid phase, after contact has taken place, is dried. The present invention is also concerned with the solid phase prepared by this process and with the use thereof for analytical determination.

A specific binding pair is bound to an insoluble carrier for use in determining an analyte such as in an immunoassay. The carrier is coated with a first polymer containing a protein polymer having a molecular weight of at least about 20,000 and molecules of a first member of a specific binding pair. A second polymer containing a second member of the specific binding pair is bound to the first member on the carrier by binding of the first and second members of the specific binding pair. The first polymer is preferably more hydrophobic than the second polymer. The protein polymer can be prepared by cross-linking hydrophobic protein molecules of 10,000 to 700,000 molecular weight with a bifunctional or polyfunctional compound to obtain a protein polymer of 200,000 to 20,000,000 molecular weight. The second polymer can be the second member of the specific binding pair or the second member cross-linked with a linker or the second member cross-linked to a hydrophobic protein.

There is disclosed a formwork for round or polygonal constructions with a formwork face having an adjustable curvature or circumference. The formwork has a chain of booms which are spaced apart from the formwork face and are composed of individual boom portions. The boom portions can be pivoted relative to one another and can be fixed in selected angular positions when the adjustment of the formwork face is completed. The pivot axes for the boom portions are not located at the boom portions themselves but are transposed into the plane of the formwork face so that the formwork and the formwork face are adjusted in assembled condition of the chain of booms. A bolt, hook or the like can be provided to secure the gate in the closed position or in the selected open position.

A device which serves to temporarily and releasably connect two neighboring panels of a concrete form has two sections which are coupled to each other by a pivot pin, and two parallel projections each of which is carried by a discrete section. One of the projections is rigidly attached to the respective section, and the other projection is rotatable relative to its section and can be locked to the flange of one of the panels after passing through a keyhole-shaped opening of such flange. The other projection then extends into the opening of the flange which forms part of the other panel. The section for the non-rotatable projection is L-shaped and the other section is a link which can turn about the axis of the pivot pin. The non-rotatable projection is secured to the free end portion of one leg of the L-shaped section and the pivot pin connects the link to the free end portion of the other leg. When the projections are properly inserted into the openings of flanges of two neighboring panels, one of the panels can be moved along an arc about the pivot pin away from the surface of the poured and hardened concrete and is then ready to be fully separated from the remainder of the form in response to extraction of the respective projection from the opening of its flange.

Climbing forms for stepwise erection of concrete walls have a platform which is supported by a frame having elongated carriers extending at right angles to the outer side of the wall to be erected and being removably suspended on anchors which are embedded in the wall. The platform supports a pair of parallel guide rails for a form member which carries the boarding of the climbing forms. The rails guide the carriages of the form member so that the boarding can be moved between an advanced position in which it is adjacent to the cavity into which concrete is to be poured and a retracted position in which the wall and the boarding define a passageway which is accessible to workmen on the platform so that the workmen can clean and/or otherwise treat that side of the boarding which faces the wall. The guide rails are mounted in such a way that the platform need not be provided with uncovered slots, gaps, cutouts or other types of openings which would endanger the occupants of the platform or would permit objects to drop from the platform and thus endanger the persons or equipment below the climbing forms.

The present invention provides a process for the determination of the .beta.-lipoprotein fraction (LDL) in body fluids, especially in serum or plasma, wherein the LDL fraction is selectively precipitated from the sample by the addition of a polyvinyl sulphate with monovalent cations and then determined. The present invention also provides a reagent for the determination of the .beta.-lipoprotein fraction (LDL) in body fluids, especially in serum or plasma, wherein it contains polyvinyl sulphate.
