A coloring system for a printing apparatus, wherein a color ribbon is mounted within a cartridge which may be inserted within the printing apparatus so that the color ribbon is operable in cooperation with a print head to effect color printing on a recording carrier, with the print head operating from above the recording carrier and with the color ribbon being wound about a pair of spools having parallel axes arranged to extend horizontally when the cartridge is mounted in a housing of the printing apparatus, the printing apparatus including a guide and stop mechanism operable to hold the cartridge within the housing in operative position with the cartridge projecting above the housing to a degree in accordance with the dimensions of the spools upon which the color ribbon is mounted.

Cartridge system for printing apparatus

A printing apparatus having a printing base with a printing head located to perform a printing operation along said printed base operating with a color transfer band and a recording medium and with a scraper device separating the color transfer band and the recording medium. The printing head swivels between a work position and an insertion position at which the color transfer band and the recording carrier are inserted into the apparatus and the scraper device is supported in the vicinity of the printing base so that it will retain a position between the color transfer band and the printing carrier when the print head is swiveled into the insertion position so that during insertion of the color transfer band and the printing carrier, the scraper means is retained therebetween while the print head is supported on the color transfer band and the printing base during swiveling into the work position.

Printing assembly with coloring system

A sorting module is provided, having as its principal operative element a pivotable carrier for a plurality of guide rails, having at their front end funnel shaped entrance openings, cooperating with a narrower opening trough which records pass, for placement in between two guide rails the selection of which depends on step motor driven adjustment of the carrier. The guide rails together, with stationary walls lead to sorting compartments.

Record sorting

A printing apparatus of modular construction includes a printing mechanism with a pivotally mounted printing head, a continuous form feed part and an individual form feed part. To provide a compact construction in which the printing operation can be viewed by the operator, the individual form feed part is constructed as a base unit so that the individual form is fed into the apparatus and transported horizontally. The printing mechanism and continuous form feed part are positioned above the base unit. As a result, with the apparatus mounted on a table, printing on the printing base of the continuous form feed part takes place below the eye level of the operator. To insert the continuous form, the continuous form feed part can be pivoted away from the printing mechanism. In addition, the printing mechanism and the continuous form feed part can be pivoted relative to the base unit to gain access to the path of the individual forms on the base unit.
