The invention relates to a pressure sensor for measurements in hot, dynamic processes. The pressure sensor comprises a cylindrical housing in which a measuring element is located, and a round or annular membrane having at least one outer support. The outer support is arranged on the housing, offset behind a housing extension. The measuring element is adapted to acquire measurement data as a result of an axial displacement of the membrane. The housing extension is provided with a heat shield which is arranged, except on its edges, interspaced behind a gap.

Pressure sensor for measurements in hot, dynamic processes

A sensor element () has at least one measurement element () with piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties, and measurement electrodes (). A measurement variable and a disturbance variable act simultaneously upon the at least one measurement element () and the measurement signal derived from the measurement electrodes () includes an interference signal. The sensor element () has at least one compensation element (') upon which only the disturbance variable acts, so that a correction signal used to compensate for the interference signal in the measurement signal can be derived from the compensation element (). The invention consists in that the compensation element (&#x2032;) is in thermal contact with a first support () and with a second support () of the measurement element (), or with the measurement element (), over its length between the supports (), so that substantially the same temperature field is established in the measurement element () and in the compensation element (&#x2032;).

In a spark plug, whose shell is provided with an eccentrically positioned, full-length, longitudinal bore designed to hold an insulating element, parts of the shell having varying wall thicknesses and a pressure measuring device being located in a part of greater wall thickness. In order to simplify connection with the ignition cable or coil, respectively, and to avoid breakage of the insulator, the spark plug insulator is configured as a multi-piece element and comprise at least an upper piece carrying the high voltage connector, a lower piece adjacent to the combustion chamber, and an insulating intermediate element of flexible material, which is placed between the upper and the lower piece of the insulator.

A reciprocating machine with a friction bearing crank mechanism having a monitoring device monitoring operating parameters of the friction bearings of the crank mechanism via at least one sensor which is in connection with an evaluation device. At least one sensor is disposed near a part of the crank mechanism which moves in operation relative to the machine's housing. The connection of the sensor with the evaluation device is guided at least in part via the crankshaft. This provides a simple and effective monitoring option for the friction bearings of the crank mechanism and for other machine-specific parameters.

A sensor used especially for the measurement of the internal pressure of injection lines of diesel engines comprises two housing parts which are connected via an articulation and can be clamped to the line with a tension device. For simple and in particular one-handed attachment of the sensor in every state of opening or closing, the tension device is located in the same sector, facing the articulation, on one side of the external region of the tube. The connecting plug for the discharging of the measuring signals is preferably insertible in the correspondingly fashioned articulation and can be locked there.

A sensor is provided that can be used for measuring the internal pressure of injection lines of diesel engines includes two housing parts that are connected via a joint and can be clamped to the injection line using a clamping device. At least one electrical measuring element is pressed, in essentially uniform elastic fashion, onto the surface of the hollow body to be measured. The sensor also includes a support element that operates essentially in radial fashion. A protective film is arranged between the surface and the measuring element. The protective film has a thickness greater than or equal to the radial dimension of foreign bodies or the like that are to be expected on the surface of the hollow body to be measured. The protective film consists of plastic with a low modulus of elasticity. In this way, impurities, burrs and the like on the tube can easily be 'embedded' in the protective film, which, as a result of the low elasticity modulus, nonetheless still ensures a sufficiently good transmission to the measuring element of the surface expansions actually to be measured.

The service life of a sensor for the measurement of pressure in hot media which can be inserted in a measurement bore and which is provided with a force-, tension- or displacement-measuring sensor element as well as with a sensor membrane, which is connected with the sensor casing in a gas-tight manner and comprises a heat-insulating, flexible coating, is increased in such a way that the pressure sensor comprises a screen-like thermal protection element which is arranged at a small distance from the coating of the sensor membrane and rests on the sensor casing.

A measuring device is provided with a piezoelectric measuring element which is positioned between two force-transmitting supports and exhibits anisotropic thermal expansion and lateral extension behavior relative thereto in a plane normal to the direction of force application. The piezoelectric measuring element, or the end regions of the two supports adjacent to the piezoelectric measuring element, are divided into several rod-, roller-, or rib-shaped elements, the two supports and the piezoelectric measuring element exhibiting essentially the same thermal expansion or lateral extension in longitudinal direction of the rod-, roller-, or rib-shaped elements.

A spark plug with an insulating body held in a casing and containing an inner electrode is provided with a force-measuring element for measuring the pressure acting on the spark plug, the insulating body resting against the casing via the force-measuring element when pressure is applied in an axial direction. To prevent the entrance of noise signals an axially-elastic sealing element is provided on a side adjacent to the combustion space, the sealing element additionally lending radial support to the insulating body resting against the casing of the spark plug.

In a pressure sensor with a housing containing a measuring device which is separated from the housing by a radial gap and comprises a pressure transmitting element, a measuring element, and, if required, a tubular spring for axially preloading the measuring element, and with a sealing membrane tightly and flexibly connecting housing and pressure transmitting element on the side of the medium, the proposal is put forward that at least one heat conducting element be provided between the pressure transmitting element and the housing, which element should be made from material of good thermal conductivity and have a large cross-section for heat conduction, such that most of the heat arising in the region of the pressure transmitting element is carried off to the housing via the heat conducting element, the latter acting as bending or rolling element in the instance of axial shifts between the pressure transmitting element and the housing, and being flexible in axial direction to minimize the transmission of forces.

A cooled pressure sensor includes a first housing part with inlet and out pipes for a cooling medium and a second housing part sealed gas-tight by means of a membrane and containing a signal generating element for force or displacement sensing. Several cooling channels are located in the wall of the second housing part, the coding channel being at least indirectly connected to the inlet and outlet pipes and positioned around the signal generating element to be cooled and/or are directed towards the membrane subject to high thermal loads to achieve better cooling performance.

To compensate for temperature effects on the measuring signal of a pressure sensor which includes a membrane part with at least indirect signal generation and is a supporting base, the membrane part being deformed by the pressure to be measured and cooperable with a pressure sensing element, the the membrane part is constructed to include at least one pair of concentric cylindrical surfaces positioned at a small radial distance from each other. The cylindrical surfaces are closed along their circumference, and one of the cylindrical surfaces increases its diameter when subjected to pressure and the diameter of the other decreases. Changes of the two diameters in the same direction take place in the instance of a temperature change.
