A component for cladding apertures in the fuselage of an aircraft is to be of lighter weight and more corrosion resistant as compared with known claddings. The component is manufactured of carbon fibre reinforced curable synthetic resin and comprises a base layer (2) onto which U-profiles (4, 4') and L-profiles (5, 5') are placed in spaced apart interrelationship, which during the manufacture are held in place by a grid (14) comprising angular bridge members. A vacuum foil 7 is applied over this assembly and is adhesively bonded along the edges of the base layer (2') to the supporting surface (1). The space between the vacuum foil (7) and the supporting surface (1) is evacuated and curing proceeds at an elevated temperature and pressure. After complete curing the vacuum foils (7) and the grid (14) are removed.

A ski comprising a ski body component (1) and a trough (2). The ski body component is a prefabricated component which is formed from a core (3), steel edges (6 and 6', respectively), a running surface coating (7) and possible intermediate layers. To produce the ski, the prefabricated ski body component (1) is introduced into a trough-shaped mould (9), a space being left free for the production of the trough, whereupon the free space is filled with plastics material, preferably by a RTM method.

In a pipe line for an engine, in particular a cooling line in aircraft construction, the walls of the pipe line are composed of a load-bearing inner layer (2) of fibre reinforced, curable synthetic resin and of a heat insulating outer layer (3) of fibre reinforced curable synthetic resin, bonded to the inner layer (2). For the production of the two layers (2, 3) a removable core (1) is used, for example composed of a low melting metal alloy.

Cooling pipe line for an engine

In a frame (1') for ball game racquets made of plastic the abrasion and cutting of the guts against the edges of passages in the frame is avoided. For that purpose the frame (1') comprises a center strip (3) of thermoplastic resin, the hardness of which is less than or equal to the hardness of the guts. Hollow profiles (4, 5) of duroplastic, fibre-reinforced synthetic resin are moulded onto both sides of the center strip. The passages are drilled into the center strip (3) after the frame has been produced and then the frame is strung.

A ski, particularly suitable for cross-country skiing having a coating on at least a portion of the running surface thereof. The coating is of a basic material and has at least one portion including at least one further material. The basic material and the at least one further material have different hardness values. The basic material is a thermoplastic material and at least one of the further materials is an elastomeric material. The elastomeric material may be embedded in the thermoplastics material in the form of insert members. The invention also relates to a ski-shaped coating for application to a ski.

In a ski of conventional structure, e.g. comprising a running surface, lower web core and upper web as well as steel edges of L-shaped cross section on the side of the ski running surface, the steel edges (8) have been adhesively inserted into a groove (7) provided for in the semi-manufactured ski by means of their respective limbs (8a) extending horizontally in respect of the running surface. This groove (7) is milled into the semi-manufactured ski prior to the insertion of the steel edge.

A structural panel in the form of a sandwich construction, comprises a core and at least one cover layer on at least one external surface of the core. Said cover layer itself has on its external surface at least a first layer of fibrous material and has on its internal surface at least a second layer having a high melting point and a high combustion temperature and also being gas-tight, thereby preventing hot gases from passing through the layer and then burning the layer disposed therebelow.
