The present invention concerns an apparatus, in particular a cover for a rotor (51), for the initiation of the spinning of a thread in an open-end spinning apparatus (1), which apparatus possesses a fiber feed conduit (6) which extends from a disintegrating apparatus (4) to a spin rotor (50), which is installed in a rotor housing (5) in combination with a controllable vacuum source, and which rotor (50) is covered with a rotor cover (51) which also accepts the fiber feed conduit (6), at least partially. The apparatus exhibits further a service wagon (2) for the open-end spinning apparatus (1), which wagon carries a suction line (20) to a connection piece (7) of the open-end spinning apparatus (1). The connection piece (7) is in communication with a connection opening (70) in the fiber feed conduit (6) and is in a break-away sealed connection with the rotor cover (51). The connection opening (70) is surrounded by a surface (700) for contact to a sealing element (731) which is integral with the connection piece (7).

Apparatus for the initiation of spinning a thread on an open-end

In preparation of the piecing process in an open-end rotor spinning device, negative pressure is first applied in a housing containing the spinning rotor, and the rotor cover is brought from its operating position into a fiber evacuation position in which it is lifted off from the housing. Fiber feeding is then switched on. The fiber stream produced thereby, together with the air stream which conveys the fibers is deflected and is evacuated by means of the negative pressure prevailing in the housing over the open rotor edge from the interior of the rotor and from the housing, until the rotor cover is brought back into its operating position to convey fibers to the fiber collection groove. To carry out this process, a controllable opening device which is connected to the control device controlling the piecing process, and by means of which the rotor cover can be brought into a fiber evacuation position and into an operating position, and a seal ensuring tightness between the two parts of the fiber feeding channel in both positions of the rotor cover are assigned to the rotor cover.

Apparatus and method for effecting yarn piecing on an open-end rotor

An open-end spinning device has a spinning rotor with a rotor pot defining a fiber collection groove therein. A rotor shaft is provided having a diameter between 5.5 mm and 9 mm. Pairs of rotatable supporting rings supported on axles define a nip therebetween. The rotor shaft is rotatably supported in the nip. The supporting rings have a diameter between 62 mm and 82 mm. A thrust imparting device imparts an axial thrust to the rotor shaft in the direction opposite the rotor pot. A non-contacting axial bearing is disposed opposite the free end of the rotor shaft for absorbing the axial thrust without contacting the rotor shaft. The axial thrust imparting device generates an axial thrust between 1N and 7N on the rotor shaft. A driving device contacts the rotor shaft for rotatably driving the rotor and has a contact pressure with the rotor shaft from between 8N and 39N.

Bearing arrangement for an open-end spinning rotor

An open-end spinning machine having a spinning rotor attached to a shaft is provided wherein the shaft of the spinning rotor is driven by driving means. The shaft of the spinning rotor is held in the nips of pairs of rearward and forward supporting disks. During spinning operations, an axial force is generated in the axial direction of the free end of the rotor shaft. The open-end spinning device further comprises a radial support surrounding at least a portion of the circumference of the rotor shaft and disposed at least in part in the area between the free end of the shaft and the area of the shaft acted upon by the rearward pair of disks.

Guide for the shaft of an open-end spinning rotor

An open-end spinning machine having a spinning rotor attached to a shaft is provided wherein the shaft of the spinning rotor is driven by a driving device. The shaft of the spinning rotor is held in the nips of pairs of rearward and forward supporting disks. During spinning operations, an axial force is generated in the axial direction of the free end of the rotor shaft. The open-end spinning device further comprises a radial support surrounding at least a portion of the circumference of the rotor shaft and disposed at least in part in the area between the free end of the shaft and the area of the shaft acted upon by the rearward pair of disks.

The opener roller housing of an open and spinning device is provided with a stop for a rotor cover and for axial adjustment of the rotor shaft support. The stop is located on the side of the fiber feeding channel section of the opener roller housing which is closest to the open-end spinning rotor and is preferably an integral part of the opener roller housing. The stop is furthermore connected to a guide for the rotor cover.

Open-end spinning device

An open-end spinning device with a spinning rotor (1) which is supported via its shaft (11) by support disks (4) and upon which an axially acting force is exerted is provided for its axial support with an aerostatic thrust bearing (6) with a bearing plate which interacts with the end of the shaft. The escape of air into the bearing gap takes place through the bearing plate (63) which together with the end of the rotor shaft (11) constitutes a low-friction pairing of materials.
