A stimulation lead includes an electrode carrier disposed along a distal portion of a lead body. The electrode carrier defines multiple segmented-electrode-receiving apertures extending between an outer surface and a central lumen. Each of the segmented-electrode-receiving apertures includes a ledge disposed around a perimeter of that segmented-electrode-receiving aperture and inset from the outer surface of the electrode carrier. The stimulation lead also includes multiple segmented electrodes, with each of the segmented electrode disposed in a different one of the segmented-electrode-receiving apertures with an outer stimulation surface exposed through the segmented-electrode-receiving aperture and an inner surface abutting the ledge disposed around the perimeter of that segmented-electrode-receiving aperture. Conductive wires extend along the lead body and couple the segmented electrodes to terminals.

A lead connector assembly for an Implantable Medical Device (IMD) is disclosed. The lead connector assembly includes a rigid elongated connector core having a core opening along its long axis. An alternating series of elastomer seals and header contacts are inserted into the core opening along the long axis and meet with an end stop to hermetically self-align the header contacts with contact openings along the sides of the core. A connector block can be inserted into an opening in the connector core, and sealed with an adhesive. Once the connector core, header contacts, seals, and connector block are subassembled, the connector core subassembly may be hermitically tested, and thereafter affixed to other subassemblies by affixing means on the connector cores. Feedthrough pins can then be connected to the header contacts through the contact openings, and overmolded with a header to the IPG's case.

Lead connector assembly for an implantable medical device and method of construction

An energy storage device, such as an electrical storage battery, having a unique terminal structure and sealing arrangement. The battery generally includes a case in which an electrode assembly is disposed, and a cover provided with a fill hole and fill plug, and a terminal structure that forms a battery terminal. Both the positive and negative electrode tabs are compressed by a fastener that seals the battery and forms a battery terminal. The battery case can be positive, negative, or neutral.

Battery connection structure and method

An electrode assembly and construction method therefor for use in small high performance batteries suitable for implantable medical device applications. The electrode assembly comprises a stack of precisely aligned planar elements including alternately arranged positive and negative planar electrodes having a planar separator interposed between adjacent electrodes. Each electrode is preferably formed of a thin metal substrate carrying active material on front and rear faces. The peripheral edge of each electrode defines an active area and a tab extending therefrom. The front and rear faces of the active area each carries a layer of active material. The faces of the tab area are preferably bare. The positive electrode tabs are located at a first position along the peripheral edge whereas the negative tabs are located at a second position spaced from said first position. Each tab carries a clip to form a reinforcing strip adjacent each tab face. Alignment holes are formed in the clips and tabs.
