An interconnection system with lossy material of a first connector adjacent a ground conductor of a second connector. The lossy material may damp resonances at a mating interface of the first and second connectors. In some embodiments, the lossy material may be attached to a ground conductor of the first connector. In some embodiments, the lossy material may be shaped as horns that extend along a cavity configured to receive a ground conductor of a mating connector.

High speed connector

A printed circuit board includes a plurality of layers including attachment layers and routing layers; and columns of via patterns formed in the plurality of layers, wherein via patterns in adjacent columns are offset in a direction of the columns, each of the via patterns comprising: first and second signal vias forming a differential signal pair, the first and second signal vias extending through at least the attachment layers; and at least one conductive shadow via located between the first and second signal vias of the differential pair. In some embodiments, at least one conductive shadow via is electrically connected to a conductive surface film.

Backplane footprint for high speed, high density electrical connectors

A printed circuit board includes a plurality of layers including conductive layers separated by dielectric layers, the conductive layers including a signal layer; and via patterns formed in the plurality of layers, each of the via patterns comprising first and second signal vias extending from a first surface of the printed circuit board to the signal layer, the signal layer including first and second signal traces connected to the first and second signal vias, respectively, the signal layer further including a ground conductor located between the signal traces and adjacent signal-carrying elements.

An electrical connector with reduced cross talk and controlled impedance. The connector comprises hybrid shields with lossy portions and conductive portions. The synergistic effect of the lossy portions and the conductive portions allows the hybrid shields to be relatively thin such that they can be incorporated into the mating interface regions or other mechanically constrained regions of the connector to provide adequate crosstalk suppression without undesirably impacting impedance. The conductive portions may be shaped to preferentially position the conductive regions adjacent signal conductors susceptible to cross talk to further contribute to the synergy. The conductive regions may include holes to contribute to desired electrical properties for the connector.

Electrical connector with hybrid shield

An electrical signal connection, an electrical signaling system, and a method of connecting printed circuit boards. The electrical signal connection having a first conductive via and a second conductive via disposed in a first printed circuit board. A first conductive trace with a first end and a second end has the first end electrically coupled to the first conductive via at a first distance from the top surface of the first printed circuit board. The second end of the first conductive via is electrically coupled to the second printed circuit board. A second conductive trace with a first end and a second end has the first end being electrically coupled to the second conductive via at a second distance from the top surface of the first printed circuit board. The second end being is electrically coupled to the second printed circuit board.
