A food storage container includes a lid with a vent hole, and a removable cover removably secured to the lid to cover the vent hole. The cover has an evacuation hole. The food storage container further includes a one-way air valve disposed between the vent hole and evacuation hole. When the cover is secured to the lid, the one-way air valve inhibits air flow into the container through the vent hole, and when the cover is not secured to the lid, the one-way air valve allows air flow into the container.

Food storage containers

A lid for a food storage container includes a lid body with a vacuum sense opening and a vent opening extending through the lid body, a releasable cover disposed over the vent opening, and a pressure-indicating protrusion. The cover impedes air flow into the container through the vent opening until the cover is released. The pressure-indicating protrusion, which has a cavity in it, is in hydraulic communication with the container through the vacuum sense opening. The pressure-indicating protrusion contracts toward the vacuum sense opening in response to negative container pressure.

A food storage container includes a lid with a vent hole, and a removable cover removably secured to the lid to cover the vent hole. The cover has an evacuation hole. The food storage container further includes a one-way air valve disposed between the vent hole and evacuation hole. With the cover secured to the lid, the one-way air valve inhibits air flow into the container through the vent hole while allowing air flow out of the container via the vent hole and evacuation hole. With the cover removed, the one-way air valve allows bi-directional air flow through the vent hole. An outer surface of the cover defines a smooth sealing area extending about the evacuation hole for sealing against a vacuum pump held against the cover over the evacuation hole to evacuate the container.

The present invention relates to a rotating beater (1) adapted to be rotated by a drive shaft (2), including at least one wire-shaped beater element (3, 22), which starts from the drive shaft (2), extends further in the direction of the drive shaft and, finally, after one or a plurality of changes in its direction of extension, is led back to the drive shaft (2). The course of the beater element (3, 22) is substantially subdivided into a first section (4, 7) in the extension of the drive shaft (2), a second section (5, 8) extending substantially transversely to the drive shaft (2), and a third (6, 9) section (6), with the first (4, 7) and third (6, 9) sections extending so that their ends (10, 11 or 12, 13, respectively) starting from the drive shaft (2) lag behind their other ends (23, 24 or 25, 26, respectively) in the direction of rotation (U) of the beater. According to the present invention, the first (4, 7) and third (6, 9) sections include upper (14, 16; 18, 20) and lower (15, 17; 19, 21) segments having different directions of extension, with the lagging behind of the first (4, 7) and third (6, 9) sections being, substantially, effected by the direction of extension of the lower segment (15, 17; 19, 21) alone. Good mixing results are achieved thereby, without foods being spattered.

Rotating beater

In an electrically operated hand mixer (10) including an attachment (1), the latter is provided with a bowl (2) closable by a lid (9). The hand mixer has at least two first (90) and second (77) drive shafts adapted for detachable coupling with various processing tools (76), such as whisk attachments or kneading blades. One of the drive shafts (90) can be non-rotatably coupled with an output shaft (16), extending upwardly through the lid (9), when the hand mixer (10) is placed on the lid (9) of the attachment (1). The output shaft (16) is connected with a drivable blade (21, 22) in the interior of the bowl (2) for chopping foods. The non-rotatable connection is established by engagement of a first toothing (71) provided in the drive shaft (90) and a mating second toothing (70) provided on the output shaft (16). The drive shaft and/or output shaft (90, 16), according to the present invention, is axially displaceable in opposition to the force of a spring (67) so that, during installation, the hand mixer (10) will move into abutment on the lid (9) even in the absence of an engagement between the first (71) and second (70) toothings. This permits ease of coupling of the hand mixer (10) to the attachment (1) because automatic coupling engagement of the drive and output shafts (90, 16) takes place as soon as the motor starts to operate.

An electrically operated hand mixer includes processing tools drivable by an electric motor for processing foods, and a housing accommodating the electric motor. A handle for manipulating the hand mixer is provided on the housing and extends substantially transversely to the longitudinal axis of the processing tools, wherein a connecting cable extends from the housing at the end remote from the processing tools and is swivellably guided in an antikink joint adapted to be swung from the housing. A winding-up arrangement is provided on the housing permitting winding the connecting cable onto the appliance. The antikink joint additionally serves as the winding-up arrangement in conjunction with a snap-in locking arrangement which, in a fixed position, along with the winding-up arrangement, permits guiding the connecting cable during the winding-up action. An electrically driven handmixer comprises a manually actuated electric switching device for an electromotor with several switch steps (I, II, III) for permanent operation of the electromotor as well as at least one switch step (IL) for short-time operation. A coupling device is used for holding and driving various insertable tools, and an interlock ensures that after the insertion of the blending attachment or other knife-like tool into the coupling device, the electromotor remains separated from the power supply despite the activation of the switch steps (I, II, III) for permanent operation of the electromotor, whereas the electromotor remains connected with the power supply during the manual actuation of the switch step (IL) for short-time operation of the electromotor.
