Disclosed herein are compounds pharmaceutical compositions containing same of the formula 1. A compound of the Formula ##STR1## wherein X, X', X' and X'', A, B, D, R, and R' are as identified in the specification and their preparation. Pharmaceutical compositions containing same can be used in the treatment of cancer.

Dihydrodibenzisoquinolinediones

The monohydrochloride and the monomethanesulfonate of amonafide are described. The salts have good pharmaceutical properties besides their antitumor action.

Bisnaphthalimides

Compounds having the formula ##STR1## wherein Y is 2-dimethylaminoethyl, 2-diethylaminoethyl, 2-(N-pyrrolidino)ethyl or 2-(N-piperidino)ethyl. The compounds are prepared by reacting 3-nitronaphthalic acid, or corresponding anhydride, with the corresponding primary amine. The compounds possess cytostatic and raticide properties.

N-Aminoethyl-substituted-3-nitronaphthalimides

The 7-theophylline acetic acid salt of mepyramine possesses bronchial spasmolytic, antiarrhythmic, cerebral oxidation inhibitor and platelet aggregation inhibitor properties. It is prepared by slowly adding a solution of mepyramine to a suspension of 7-theophylline acetic acid in the same solvent to effect the salt-forming reaction. It can be incorporated in various pharmaceutical unit dosage forms.
