A method and apparatus for collecting and evaluating biometric data of members of a group uses a mobile ad hoc network to relay information collected from each group member to a monitoring device. The information is collected from each group member using a chin strap biometric sensing device. The monitoring device is an endpoint of the mobile ad hoc network, and organizes the collected data for evaluation and display to a supervisor of the group. Any biometric parameter for a given group member that exceeds a preferred value can be flagged for immediate attention by the supervisor.

Method and apparatus for acquiring and collecting biometric data sensed at a user's chin

A host and a communicatively linked paired tag can be identified. The tag can be associated with a tracked entity. The tag can be a low power computing device which can provide a location of a tracked entity to the host. An out of range condition can be detected. The condition can result in communication between the host and the tag being temporarily interrupted. A last location of the tag can be established. A set of hosts proximate to the last location can be determined. The set of hosts can be queried to determine if the hosts have received an advertisement message from the tag. Each of the set of hosts can be linked to a different paired tag. A notification can be conveyed to the host when the set of hosts receives the message from the paired tag. The notification can include a new location of the paired tag.

Enabling proximate host assisted location tracking of a short range wireless low power locator tag

A system of an alert puck, a mobile communication device, and an alert server for facilitating a VOIP session with the mobile communication device responsive to an emergency event triggered by the alert puck. The alert puck comprises a housing enclosing a sealed volume, a power supply and control circuitry that includes a personal area network (PAN) interface. The mobile communication device comprises an operating system, an alert application executing upon the operating system, and a wireless transceiver. The alert server contacts a set of one or more previously defined contact devices, conveys an emergency message, and facilitates the VOIP session with the alert application, when a button is pressed on the alert puck.

Systems and methods for hand hygiene compliance management include a hand-held personal liquid dispenser including a pump and pump plunger that dispenses liquid from a reservoir inside the dispenser when depressed. The dispenser includes circuitry that detects and records each depression of the plunger, and a port for connection to an external computer to transfer data such as identifiers for the dispenser and its user, and time and date of dispenser usage. A compliance system includes scheduling, training and education in the use of such dispensers, and data collection to track compliance with desired dispenser usage standards. The system may include receivers, transmitters and transceivers to detect and record hand hygiene opportunities, as in patient-occupied areas in a hospital, and transmit personal dispenser usage and other data to a computer.

System and method for hand hygiene compliance management and horizontal pump dispenser therefor

A mounting base apparatus for an electrical power measuring device such as a watt-hour meter, that is especially adapted for use in residential applications and providing a lightning arrester for the mounted meter. The apparatus includes one piece molded plastic a one piece molded plastic base structure including a circular base having a forwardly extending tubular side wall for forming a partially enclosed cavity. The tubular side wall terminates in an external flange forming a substantially planar circular surface having a concentric opening for receiving the watt-hour meter. Mounted on the base within a partially enclosed cavity formed by the side wall and base are a plurality of electrical terminals. The terminals receive a corresponding plurality of blade terminals on the watt meter to electrically connect the watt-hour meter. Mounted within the cavity is an electrical conductor or shunt gapped sufficiently from the terminals to prevent electrical arcing through the conduit at normal voltages while providing grounding safety protection against undesired power surges caused by lightning and the like.

Mounting base apparatus

A locking ring formed of a plurality of curved clamp portions connecting in an end-to-end relationship for securing an electrical power measuring device with a mounting base is disclosed. The semi-circular clamp portions are molded from a single piece of plastic, are identical in construction and are fully interchangeable. Each clamp is preferably formed with a semi-circular curved arc body having a male connection at one end and a female connection at the other end. The male end is formed with a pair of projections of which the first male projection serves as an alignment guide during make-up and use while the second male projection carries a movable latch shoulder for effecting the end-to-end connection with the adjacent mating clamp portion. The female end includes a housing having a central opening with separated first and second entrances formed by a roof mounted lug. The lug also forms a locking surface for engaging with the latch surface of the second male projection of the adjacent clamp portion to operably connect the clamp portions. A tampering indicating locking block is forced into the second entrance after the clamp portions are connected to block movement of the second male projection that would disengage the latch shoulder.
