Disclosed herein are systems and methods for coupling electrodes to electrical components that may be utilized in a variety of applications to collect data from the electrodes. In one embodiment, an electrode connection system to couple an electrode to an electrical component. The electrode connection system includes the electrical connector body comprising a PCB assembly cavity and an electrode channel. An electrode clamp coupled to the electrical connector body may include an engaging mechanism and at least one electrode clamp pad protrusion to couple an at least one electrode pad to an at least one connector pad. The PCB assembly may include at least one connector pad. The electrode may comprise at least one electrically active electrode pad. The electrical component may collect data from the electrode or stimulate tissue utilizing the electrode.

Systems and methods for coupling electrodes and electrical components

A pair of mating connectors includes a receptacle having an insulative housing and at least one conductive receptacle contact with a pair of spaced walls forming a plug contact receiving space. The plug connector has an insulative housing and at least one conductive contact having a pair of spaced walls which converge to form a projection engageable in the plug receiving space of the receptacle contact. In each case, the spaced walls are joined by a bridging structure that unites the walls. The plug and receptacle contacts are retained in the respective housings by engagement of opposed lateral edge portions of the contacts with the housings in a manner to enhance heat dissipation by convection by maintaining substantial portions of the contacts spaced from the housing walls and from each other. The bridging structure may include a retention element for engaging respective connector housings to retain the contact in the housings. The open structure of both the receptacle and plug contacts enhances heat dissipation and allows flexibility in achieving desired contact normal forces. The contact construction is especially useful for electronic power connectors.

Power connector

A contact assembly for use in an electrical connector. The contact assembly includes an insulative contact block defining a plurality of apertures therethrough. The contacts assembly also includes a plurality of dual beam contact terminals. Each plurality of dual beam contact terminals extends through an aperture in the contact block wherein the dual beam contact terminals are seated within the aperture of the contact block at an inwardly directed tension that maintains a desired spring rate on the contacts.

An electrical connector system includes a first connector having at least one receptacle contact and a second connector having at least one pin mated to the at least one receptacle contact. The pin may have a stem and a tip attached to the stem. The pin tip is designed to prevent misalignment of the pin or &ldquo;pin side track&rdquo; when mated to the receptacle contact and the mating forces that result from side tracking. In order to prevent this side tracking, the pin end may have a first flat side, a second flat side, a first side which connects the first flat side to the second flat side; and a second side which connects the first flat side to the second flat side. The pin tip flat sides minimize or reduce the likelihood of side tracking. The pin tip may also have other sides which are designed to prevent side tracking. For instance, the end of the pin tip may also be flat. Further the first and the second sides may each have a first portion which is angled from the tip and which connects to a second portion which is disposed substantially parallel to the stem.

Profiled header ground pin

A header assembly is mounted to a backplane and receives a complementary electrical connector. The header assembly has an insulating shroud having a base with backplane and connector sides and a primary edge, and differential signal pin pairs, ground shields, and ground pins mounted to the base. The signal pin pairs are arranged into rows extending in a first direction along the base and along the base primary edge, and columns extending in a perpendicular second direction along the base. The signal pins in each pair are adjacently arranged into a sub-row extending in the first direction. Each signal pin in a pair has an inner side facing the other pin in the pair, an opposing outer side, and primary and non-primary sides facing toward and away from the base primary edge, respectively. One ground shield is associated with each signal pin. Each ground shield extends through the base between the connector side and the backplane side, and includes first and second attached wings arranged at right angles. The first wing extends along the first direction adjacent and along either the primary or non-primary side of the associated signal pin, and the second wing extends along the second direction adjacent and along the outer side of the associated signal pin. The ground shields in combination substantially electromagnetically isolate within the base each signal pin pair from all others. Each ground pin electrically contacts at least one ground shield at the second wing thereof.

An electrical connector comprising an insulative body, an electrically conductive terminal received on the insulative body, and electrical shield member disposed in shielding relationship with respect to the terminal, a latching structure integral with the shield member for receiving a latch associated with a mating connector and a second latching structure integral with the shield member for engaging a bracket.

A connector system having a header connector and a receptacle connector. The header connector has an array of pins. The modular receptacle connector comprises a ground receptacle contact that contacts adjacent mating surfaces of a pin, and a signal receptacle contact for engaging another pin.

An apparatus for mounting an electrical connector on a PCI bracket comprising a base containing a plurality of apertures and at least one spring loaded eject pin, a contact support plate having a plurality of slots used to position contact tails on the connectors, a vertical clamp used to hold the connectors in place and a spring loaded plunger positioned in the base such that the PCI bracket is accurately positioned with respect to the connectors.

Apparatus for assembling an electrical connector and method of use

An interconnection system having a first connector with a plurality of contacts; and a second connector with a plurality of contacts. The contacts of the first connector engage the contacts on the second connector, creating unbalanced resultant forces an the contacts of the second connector. The unbalanced resultant forces caused by a set of the contacts of the second connector generally offset the unbalanced forces caused by another set of contacts on the second connector. Thus, the contacts balance the forces created during mating, providing a generally balanced interconnection system.
