An injection mold for producing a sprinkler head part and related injection molding methods are described. The sprinkler head part includes a first, second, third and fourth mold portions. The first and second mold portions include first and second shaping elements structured to cooperatively form a body including a substantially cylindrical portion and a substantially planar portion, and two frame arms extending from the substantially planar portion of the body. The third mold portion includes a shaping element structured to form an orifice in the body of the sprinkler head. The fourth mold portion includes a shaping element structured to form a cross member connecting the two frame arms. The injection methods include injecting a composite material in molten form into the mold to form the molded sprinkler head part. The composite material includes thermoplastic polymeric resin and a plurality of reinforcing fibers dispersed in the resin.

Mold and method of manufacturing for fiber-reinforced polymeric sprinkler head part

A sprinkler assembly () includes a (plastic) sprinkler frame () and a deflector assembly () circumferentially disposed about the sprinkler frame. The deflector assembly includes a receiver portion (), a deflector member (), and at least one extension member () to space the deflector member from the receiver portion. The at least one extension member is peripheral with respect to the receiver portion and the deflector member. The sprinkler assembly can be configured with the deflector assembly translating with respect to the sprinkler frame. Alternatively, the deflector assembly can be fixed with respect to the sprinkler frame.

Fire protection sprinkler assembly

Fire protection mist nozzles for industrial oil cookers, oil cookers with fire protection systems, and method of oil cooker fire protection are provided. The mist nozzles operate at pressures between 170 and 250 psi, and provide a unique distribution pattern that allows for variable installations for protection in certain operative environments including oil cookers with various hood configurations. The fire protection nozzles includes a base defining an inlet and an outlet along an axis. The base includes an orifice having an inlet diameter and an outlet diameter. The outlet diameter is preferably greater than the inlet diameter; and the orifice defines a K-factor of less than 1.0 gpm/psi&#xbd;. The nozzle includes a diffuser aligned with the orifice. The diffuser has a preferably substantially domed portion with a maximum diameter that is less than the summation of the inlet diameter and the outlet diameter of the orifice.

Fire protection device and method for fire protection of an industrial oil cooker

A sprinkler assembly including a sprinkler frame having a proximal portion, a distal portion and an internal surface defining an internal fluid passageway having an inlet and an outlet extending axially to define a central sprinkler axis of the frame. The distal portion includes a plurality of surfaces to define a pair of chambers disposed about the passageway. The sprinkler assembly includes a seal assembly and a lever assembly having a first configuration to support the seal assembly and a second configuration to release the seal assembly. The lever assembly includes a pair of lever members in which each has lever member h a first end. In the first configuration, the first end forms a frictional engagement within a chamber to support the seal assembly in an unactuated state of the sprinkler frame.

Fire protection sprinkler trigger assembly

A deluge fire protection system for tunnels having vehicle traffic including a main water supply pipe and a horizontal spray nozzle arrangement. The horizontal spray nozzle arrangement includes a nozzle device having an inlet portion defining an internal diameter and an external nominal diameter. The horizontal spray arrangement includes a coupling arrangement between the main water supply and the nozzle device. The coupling arrangement defines a multi-direction flow path between the main water supply and the nozzle device. The multi-direction flow path has an effective length of at least eight times a diameter of the inlet portion, and a cross-sectional area along the effective length greater than the cross-sectional area defined by a diameter of the inlet portion of the body of the nozzle device. The coupling arrangement provides for water delivery to the nozzle device at a working pressure ranging from about 10 psi. to about 30 psi.

Tunnel fire protection system

A fire protection device including a frame having a body with an inlet and an outlet disposed spaced along a longitudinal axis of a passageway. A pair of arms is disposed in a first plane parallel to the longitudinal axis and coupled to the body. A deflector assembly having a generally planar face portion is distally spaced from the outlet of the body and orthogonal to the longitudinal axis. The face portion includes two openings on opposite sides of a second plane perpendicular to the first plane. A canopy portion is supported on a first side of the first plane from the face portion. The deflector assembly includes a plurality of tines extending along the face portion on a second side of the first plane. Each of the tines have an outer edge disposed on a common circle centered along the longitudinal axis.
