Apparatuses are disclosed for use in orthopedic surgery, for example for procedures in which a support member is connected to the spine. A connector member for connecting to an orthopedic implant and a support member is provided. A sleeve fits around the implant, and a locking member or mechanism connects to the sleeve. Locking causes a part of the sleeve to press the support against the connector, and causes a part of the sleeve to compress around the implant, so that the implant and support are substantially inhibited or prevented from moving with respect to each other.

Orthopedic implant apparatus

Orthopedic implants are disclosed that may be used in spinal applications. In one embodiment, a plate portion is provided with a threaded protrusion on which a connector for attachment to an orthopedic rod can be fitted. The protrusion may be multi-axially orientable with respect to said plate portion. The plate portion may include a dome having an inner surface that may be of conical shape, through which a portion of the protrusion may extend. A pin may be provided to retain the protrusion in place with respect to the dome. A second plate portion may be provided, which may be integral with or movable with respect to the first plate portion, that can be connected to a bone, e.g. iliac or sacral bone.

Spinal implant apparatus

An interspinous device for impeding the movements of two successive vertebrae () of the spinal column. A spinal osteosynthesis device comprising a bone anchorage element, a vertebral rod, a connector for interconnecting the rod and the anchorage element so that the anchorage element is capable of being angularly oriented in a polyaxial manner relative to the rod. A fixation element is provided for fixing the position of the connector in translation and in rotation relative to the rod. A clamp element is provided for clamping the bone anchorage element to the connector in a predetermined angular position independent of the fixation element.

Spinal osteosynthesis device

Torque limiting clamping plug for osteosynthesis instrumentation

A tool for driving a screw having two threaded shanks separated by an intermediate portion. The tool includes a rod having a tapped end portion adapted to engage one of the threaded shanks. The tool also includes a cage adapted to receive the intermediate portion of the screw therein. The cage is provided with at least one opening containing a rolling member configured to be applied against a surface of the intermediate portion of the screw. The tool additionally includes a tube surrounding the rod and the cage. The tube includes an inner wall having a profile configured such that as the tube is rotated about the longitudinal axis, the inner surface applies a radial force to the rolling member, causing the rolling member to be radially displaced through the opening in the cage and placing it in abutment with the intermediate portion of the screw.
