The present disclosure relates generally to orthopaedic surgical tools used to cut and/or resect a bone of a patient during an orthopaedic surgical procedure such as, for example, a joint replacement procedure.

System, apparatus, and method for cutting bone during an orthopaedic surgical procedure

A system and method for validating an orthopaedic surgical plan includes a data tag associated with a patient-specific orthopaedic surgical instrument and a data reader to read the data tag to obtain surgical procedure parameters from the data tag. A display module may display the surgical procedure parameters and/or identification data to validate the patient-specific orthopaedic surgical instrument. Additionally, the system may include a sensor module to generate joint force data indicative of a joint force of a patient's joint. The display module may be configured to display the joint force data in association with the surgical procedure parameters.

System and method for validating an orthopaedic surgical plan

A method for cutting a bone of a patient using a bone saw tool that includes determining a cutting region that corresponds to a region of the bone to be cut and determining the position of the bone saw tool in the coordinate system. The method includes activating a bone saw blade guard of the bone saw tool if the bone saw tool is outside the cutting region.

A bone saw tool includes a bone saw and a bone saw blade assembly. The bone saw blade assembly includes a bone saw blade and a bone saw blade guard. The bone saw blade guard is movable to an extended position to reduce the cutting effectiveness of the bone saw blade and/or the maximum cutting depth of the bone saw blade. The bone saw may be configured to activate the bone saw blade guard in response to a signal received from a computer system when the bone saw is moved outside a predetermined cutting region.

A method and system for designing a patient-specific orthopaedic surgical instrument includes coupling a knee sleeve to a leg of the patient. The knee sleeve includes sensors configured to generate sensor data indicate of the position of the respective sensor. The method also include determining angulation data indicative of the angulation of the knee based on the sensor data. The angulation data may be indicative of, for example, the ligament laxity of the knee. The method may also include generating a medical image(s) of the knee. The design of the patient-specific orthopaedic surgical instrument is determined based on the angulation data and the medical image(s).

A system, apparatus, and method for determining a position of an orthopedic prosthesis includes a patient support platform, a sensor array coupled to the patient support platform, and a controller electrically coupled to the sensor array. An ankle prosthesis includes a tibial device attachable to a tibia. The tibial device has a concave articulating surface. A talar assembly includes a dome portion having a convex articulating surface engaging the concave articulating surface of the tibial device such that the dome portion is pivotable relative to the tibial device. The talar assembly also includes a base portion attachable to a talus. The base portion is pivotable relative to the dome portion.
