A method of perforating a wellbore is described herein. The method includes lowering a perforating wellbore tool into the wellbore proximate a formation to be perforated, anchoring the perforating wellbore tool by setting an anchoring tool, perforating the formation, creating a low pressure chamber in the perforating wellbore tool, and unsetting the anchoring tool after a time delay.

Delayed drop assembly

A technique facilitates perforating along specific regions of a wellbore without creating detrimental transient pressure changes along a perforating gun string. In non-perforation regions, pressure charges may be used to maintain pressure within the gun string without creating perforations through the surrounding casing and into the surrounding formation. Each pressure charge may comprise a casing with an explosive material disposed in the casing. However, the components and structure of the pressure charge enable detonation and the corresponding increase in pressure within the gun string without creating perforations.

System and methodology for minimizing perforating gun shock loads

A technique facilitates formation of perforations into a formation surrounding a borehole in a manner which enhances fluid flow along the perforations. The technique comprises providing a plurality of perforating charges which may be detonated in the borehole to create perforations. The detonation is used to initiate a time delay device for controlling a subsequent detonation of a corresponding charge. The corresponding charge is used to create a pressure underbalance in the borehole. This relatively lower pressure in the borehole is selectively established to create a reverse flow through the perforations which cleans the perforations.

System and method for perforating a formation

A sensor system includes interconnected and axially spaced apart sensor devices deployed along an outer surface of a downhole tool string. The sensor devices including a sensor disposed with a protective housing and control electronics located remote from the sensor devices and operationally connected to the sensors.

Embodiments of the present disclosure may provide a perforation tool and method for operating the perforation tool. The perforation tool may include one or more firing heads and one or more gun assemblies. The perforation tool may also include a release mechanism coupled to the one or more firing head and the one or more gun assemblies. The release mechanism may release the one or more gun assemblies to a bottom of a wellbore upon firing of the one or more gun assemblies and maintain the one or more firing heads on the perforation tool.
