A method and a system for arbitrary optical waveform generation from an optical input, the system comprising an optical shaper comprising unbalanced interferometers with at least one delay, the delay being selected of at least 0.1 ps, an optical sampling readout selected for measuring optical waveforms of at least 0.1 ps; and an electronic processing unit; wherein the optical input is a picosecond pulse; with a minimal pulse duration before the optical shaper equal to a minimal delay of the optical shaper; the optical shaper splitting and interfering optical pulses; the optical sampling readout collecting data at an output of the optical shaper; and the electronic processing unit comparing the collected data with a preset target and updating the optical shaper from results of the comparison until a maximal match between the output of the optical shaper and the preset target output, wherein the maximal match is determined iteratively using one of: machine-learning, optimization algorithms and iterative search algorithms.

System and method for arbitrary optical waveform generation

A waveguide for time-domain integration of THz pulses, comprising two wires extending from an input gap gto an output gap gat a tapering angle θ relative to a longitudinal axis, a gap of the waveguide decreasing linearly from the input gap gto the output gap g, wherein a size of the output gap is at least one order of magnitude smaller than a central wavelength λin a spectrum of the THz pulses, and a method for time-domain integration of THz pulses, comprising confining input THz pulses in the waveguide.

Method and system for time-domain integration of broadband terahertz pulses

A method for entropy scaling in quantum random number generators, comprising dividing one spatial mode into multiple spatial modes, delaying each spatial mode, and recombing the spatial modes; detecting first temporal states with synchronisation to a photon generation time and encoding the first temporal states into first time bins; detecting second temporal states in an arbitrary clock, and encoding the second temporal states into second time-bins. The method comprises dividing a source of single photons into two paths in a first beam splitter and recombining the two paths in a next beam splitter, repeatedly, in a cascade of n beam splitters, consecutive beam splitters being separated by a length of fiber, yielding a number I=2of temporal states for each photon; detecting first temporal states by measuring a photon rate in a temporal window selected to measure photon arrival times, with synchronisation to a generation time of the photons, and encoding the first temporal states into first time bins, a number of the first temporal states being I=2; detecting second temporal states by measuring a photon rate in the selected temporal window, in absence of synchronisation to the generation time of the photon, and encoding the second temporal states into second time-bins, a number of the second time bins being N; thereby generating a state space for each photon of N×I.

Method and system for extractable randomness scaling in quantum random number generators

There is provided a system for generating a spectrogram signal representative of a spectrogram of an initial signal, the system comprising: a temporal phase modulator for receiving the initial signal and quadratically modulating a temporal phase of the initial signal in a periodic series of consecutive quadratic time lenses in order to obtain a temporal phase modulated signal; a spectral phase modulator for quadratically modulating a spectral phase of the temporal phase modulated signal to obtain a given signal representative of a series of consecutive spectra; and a sensor for detecting the given signal in a temporal domain in order to obtained a sensed signal and outputting the sensed signal, the sensed signal being representative of the spectrogram of the initial signal.

Method and system for generating the spectrogram of a signal

A THz waveguide is described, comprising four conductive wires separated by an air gap, the THz waveguide allowing low-loss and dispersion-free propagation of a THz signal. The system for terahertz polarization-division multiplexing comprises at least two THz sources, a THz waveguide and a THz receiver, wherein said THz waveguide comprises four conductive wires separated by an air gap; THz pulses from the THz sources being coupled into the THz waveguide; the THz waveguide transmitting the THz pulses independently, the THz waveguide operating as a broadband polarization-division multiplexer. The method for terahertz polarization-division multiplexing, comprising multiplexing THz pulses from terahertz sources in free-space, coupling resulting multiplexed THz pulses into a THz waveguide comprising four conductive wires separated by an air gap; and demultiplexing the multiplexed THz pulses after propagation in the waveguide.

System and method for terahertz polarization-division multiplexing

A method and a system for generating a hyper-entangled high-dimensional time-bin frequency-bin state, the method comprising generating a hyper-entangled state composed of a time-bin and frequency-bin encoded state, and individually modifying at least one of: i) the amplitude and ii) the phase of the state components at different frequency-bins and different time-bins of the hyper-entangled state. The system comprises a non-linear medium exited with multiple pulses in broad phase-matching conditions, a frequency mode separator and an amplitude/phase modulator, the frequency mode separator temporally and spatially separating frequency modes of the hyper-entangled state, the amplitude/phase modulator individually modifying at least one of: i) the amplitude (and ii) the phase of the state components at different frequency-bins and different time-bins of the hyper-entangled state.

Method and system for generation and control of high-dimensional multi-partite quantum states

A method and a system for generating a time-frequency representation of an aperiodic continuous input signal comprising generating a periodic train of short pulses having a repetition frequency, and sampling the signal temporally using the periodic train of short pulses to obtain a temporally sampled signal, the temporally sampled signal comprising a plurality of sampled copies of the input signal, each sampled copy being spaced in function of the repetition frequency of the periodic train of short pulses. The temporally sampled signal is delayed based on the repetition frequency to obtain a delayed temporally sampled signal comprising a plurality of delayed sampled copies, a spectral representation of a given delayed sampled copy being delayed in function of the repetition frequency. The delayed temporally sampled signal is evaluated over consecutive time slots to obtain, for each consecutive time slot, a respective output signal in the time-frequency domain.

Method and system for generating time-frequency representation of a continuous signal

There is described a system for lossless sampling and denoising amplification of a signal, comprising: a first phase modulator configured for receiving a wave signal and modulating a phase of the wave signal while satisfying a Talbot condition to obtain a sampled signal; and a second phase modulator configured for receiving the sampled signal, compensating for a given phase induced in the sampled signal by the first phase modulator while satisfying the Talbot condition to obtain a denoised and amplified signal, and outputting the denoised and amplified signal.
