Described herein is a hair care composition including from about 0.01% to about 20% of a lipid being one or more unsaturated fatty materials chosen from unsaturated fatty acids, unsaturated fatty alcohols, and mixtures thereof. The unsaturated fatty material has a Log P of less than 8. The hair care composition also includes from about 0.01% to about 10% of a fatty acid monoester of a polyol, a saturated fatty alcohol, an ester of a saturated fatty alcohol, and mixtures thereof. The molecule of the fatty acid component of the fatty acid monoester includes a linear or a branched carbon chain with 10 to 22 carbon atoms. The fatty acid monoester of a polyol has a log P of less than 8. The molecule of the fatty alcohol includes a linear or branched carbon chain with 8 to 22 carbon atoms. The hair care composition also includes a non-aqueous volatile solvent.

Composition for enhancing hair fiber properties

Described herein is an aerosol hairspray product including a container including a container wall which encloses a reservoir. The reservoir includes from about 40% to about 70% of a hairstyling formulation and from about 30% to about 60% of a dimethyl ether propellant. The hairstyling formulation includes water, one or more hairstyling polymers, and from about 0.05% to about 2% alcohol. A spraying device is attached to the container. The spraying devices includes a valve including a valve housing including a vapor tap including a vapor tap area. A dip tube is connected to the valve. The dip tube includes a dip tube orifice including a dip tube orifice area. The ratio of the vapor tap area to the dip tube orifice area is from about 0.005 to about 0.15.

Aerosol hairspray product comprising a spraying device

The present invention relates to an aerosol hairspray product. The product comprises: a pressurizable container comprising a container wall which encloses a reservoir for storing a hairstyling formulation and a liquefied gas propellant; and a spraying device attached to the container for dispensing the hairstyling formulation from the reservoir of the container. The spraying device comprises a valve and a nozzle and the valve comprises a valve body, a stem and a spring means. The valve body houses an insert and the insert comprises an insert orifice and at least two channels. The channels are tangentially disposed about the insert orifice. Also the valve body comprises at least two vapor taps. Furthermore the insert orifice is capable of being in liquid communication with the hairstyling formulation in the reservoir.

The present invention is directed to a hair styling device for providing lift to a mass of undifferentiated hair stands on a scalp region comprising: a bundling means for gathering hair strands into hair bundles; a reservoir, in fluid communication with the bundling means, comprising a styling composition; and a means to hold and further align the hair strands along and beyond the bundling means.

Disclosed are aerosol hair spray compositions which comprise a first and a second silicone-grafted copolymer, wherein the copolymers exhibit a dichotomous viscosity behavior which results in superior hold and excellent hair feel benefits, and a method of styling hair comprising applying to the hair an effective amount of the above composition. The aerosol hair spray compositions comprise: (A) from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of said composition, of a first silicone-grafted copolymer comprising a vinyl polymeric backbone and a polysiloxane macromer grafted to said vinyl polymeric backbone, (i) wherein said first silicone-grafted copolymer is formed from the copolymerization of randomly repeating hydrophilic monomer units, herein designated A, and hydrophobic monomer units, herein designated B, (a) wherein said vinyl polymeric backbone comprises from about 10% to about 50%, by weight of said first silicone-grafted copolymer, of copolymerizable hydrophilic A monomers, (b) wherein said vinyl polymeric backbone comprises from 0% to about 85%, by weight of said first silicone-grafted copolymer, of copolymerizable hydrophobic B monomers, (c) wherein said polysiloxane macromer comprises from about 5% to about 50%, by weight of said first silicone-grafted copolymer, of polysiloxane-containing monomer units, (ii) wherein said polysiloxane macromer has a weight average molecular weight from about 500 to about 50,000; and (iii) wherein said first silicone-grafted copolymer has a weight average molecular weight from about 10,000 to about 500,000; (B) from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight of said composition, of a second silicone-grafted copolymer, comprising a vinyl polymeric backbone and a polysiloxane macromer grafted to said vinyl polymeric backbone, (i) wherein said second silicone-grafted copolymer is formed from the copolymerization of randomly repeating hydrophobic monomer units, herein designated B, (ii) wherein said polysiloxane macromer comprises from about 10% to about 40%, by weight of said second silicone-grafted copolymer, of polysiloxane-containing monomer units, (iii) wherein said polysiloxane macromer has a weight average molecular weight from about 5,000 to about 50,000, (iv) wherein said second silicone-grafted copolymer has a weight average molecular weight from about 300,000 to about 5,000,000, and (v) wherein said first silicone-grafted copolymer is present, relative to said second silicone-grafted copolymer, by weight, in a ratio from about 2:1 to about 26:1; (C) a neutralizing system, (D) from about 20% to about 50%, by weight of said composition, of a propellant; and (E) the balance comprising a carrier.

Aerosol hair spray compositions comprising combinations of silicone-grafted copolymers

Hair care compositions comprise a water-soluble polyalkylene glycol having a number average molecular weight of from about 200 to about 900 and from about 4 to about 18 repeating alkylene oxide radicals, wherein each of the repeating alkylene oxide radicals has from 2 to 6 carbon atoms; a film forming polymer is soluble in the polyalkylene glycol, wherein the weight ratio of the polyalkylene glycol to the film forming polymer ranges from about 5:1 to about 50:1; and a liquid carrier. The hair care compositions optionally further comprise a non-volatile silicone with a molecular weight greater than about 40,000 daltons.

Hair care compositions comprising polyalkylene glycol styling agents

The present invention relates to personal care compositions comprising a copolymer complex and a volatile, hydrophobic solvent component for solubilizing or dispersing the copolymer complex. The copolymer complex is formed by complexing a fatty acid with a copolymer, wherein the copolymer comprises a hydrophobic monomer, a hydrophilic monomer such that at least 1%, by weight of the total copolymer, comprises hydrophilic monomers bearing nitrogen containing functional groups and, optionally, a hydrophobic macromonomer.

Personal care compositions

Disclosed is a vehicle system having a thickening system which comprises a nonionic long-chain alkylated water-soluble polymer and a specific cationic quaternary ammonium surfactant component dispersed in a compatible solvent. The quaternary surfactant component has an iodine value of at least about 15. The quaternary surfactant component is characterized by having a sufficient level of unsaturated C.sub.14 -C.sub.22 alkyl or C.sub.14 -C.sub.22 alkyl amido C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene radicals such that the average iodine value is at least about 15. These vehicle systems are useful in cosmetic compositions which are used to deliver an active component to the hair or skin. The vehicle systems are particularly useful in hair care compositions, especially rinse-off hair conditioning and styling compositions. In a particular rinse-off hair styling and conditioning composition hereof, the composition contains a vehicle system, as described above, and additionally contains a hair setting agent, a distributing aid, and a mono-long chain, tri-short chain quaternary ammonium surfactant.

Cosmetic compositions containing hydrophobically modified nonionic

The present invention relates to personal care compositions comprising a copolymer complex and a volatile, hydrophobic solvent component for solubilizing or dispersing the copolymer complex. The compositions comprising from about 0.25% to about 70% of a copolymer component having a drying coefficient of less than about 3%; said copolymer component comprising from about 1.5% to 70% of a silicone-grafted adhesive hair styling copolymer having a weight average molecular weight from about 300,000 to about 5,000,000 and from about 30% to about 98.5% of a hydrophobic volatile solvent.
