In an example, a printhead carriage to be used in a printing system is disclosed herewith wherein the carriage includes a pocket defined by a first wall and a second wall opposite to the first wall; a set of electrical connectors provided on the first wall; and a mechanical protector. In an example, the mechanical protector may be a sheet with a determined length that extends from the first wall into the pocket and a width that extends along the width of the first wall over the electrical connectors. In an example, the mechanical protector includes an elastic member biased towards the second wall.

Printhead carriages with mechanical protectors

Provided is a printing apparatus having a support member with a printhead slot, a first tubing to provide a first printing fluid, and a second tubing to provide a second printing fluid. An end portion of the first tubing is arranged in an active position to provide the first printing fluid to a printhead in the printhead slot. An end portion of the second tubing is arranged in a standby position to not provide the second printing fluid to a printhead. A mechanical structure to which the end portion of the first tubing is attached allows to remove the end portion of the first tubing from the active position and to arrange the end portion of the second tubing in the active position.

Printing device and support member for printing device

Systems and methods for printing are described. One example is a tension module for a printer including a throughput roller including a length to diameter ratio of at least 10:1 and a material on the surface thereof having a friction coefficient value less than 1. In addition, the module includes a plurality of pinch rollers arranged parallel to the throughput roller and, the pinch rollers supporting the throughput roller and providing a pressure on a print medium when passed along the throughput roller. Further, the module includes a motor to rotate the throughput roller. Still further, the module includes a tension lever including a plurality of stops, each of the stops being associated with one of a plurality of tension settings. Manipulation of the tension lever between two of the stops adjusts the pressure between the throughput roller and the pinch rollers on the print medium.

Tension module for wide format inkjet printers

Systems and methods for wide format ink printing are described. In one embodiment, a tension module for wide format inkjet printers is described which includes a throughput roller comprising a material having a length to diameter ratio of at least 10:1 and a friction coefficient value less than 1. The tension module further includes a plurality of pinch rollers adjacent to and supporting the throughput roller, and a motor operable to rotate the throughput roller. The plurality of pinch rollers and the rotation of the throughput roller in combination are operable to draw the print medium between the plurality of pinch rollers and the throughput roller.

A connector system substantially rigidly connects a carriage guide rod to a base support structure of a hardcopy apparatus and includes a connector element rigidly fixable to the base support structure. The connector system has a pin which is held in a first bore in the guide rod by a retaining screw in a second bore of the guide rod. The connector system can be adjusted with six degrees of freedom before final fixing. The introduction of a further screw in a threaded part of the first bore permits vertical adjustment of the pin. The connector system can alternatively be used to rigidly secure a printer platen.

A datum arrangement on the replaceable semi-permanent compact print cartridge includes three x-datums, one y-datum and two z-datums to assure proper seating of the print cartridge in the carriage as well as proper electric and fluidic interconnections.

A tool and a method for adjusting a space between a printhead in a print cartridge and a platen in an ink jet printer are disclosed. The shape of the tool mimics the shape of a print cartridge. The tool is inserted into an aperture in a carriage in place of the print cartridge whose printhead is the closest to the platen, or, if all of the printheads are equally close to the platen, then the tool may be inserted in place of any of the print cartridges. The tool includes a thin flexible member that extends toward the platen. The length of the member is such that, when the tool is properly inserted into the aperture and contacts the platen, then the printhead to platen spacing at that point on the platen would be just equal to a minimum acceptable spacing between a printhead in the same aperture and the platen. Contact between the member of the tool and the platen is detected by listening for a scraping sound caused by such contact and/or watching for flexure of the member caused by such contact while moving the carriage laterally. Subsequently, the height of the carriage relative to the platen is gradually adjusted until no sound or flexure is detected as the carriage moves along the platen. Subsequently, the tool is removed and a print cartridge is inserted into the aperture so that printing may commence.

Tool and method for adjustment of printhead to platen spacing in a printer

An inkjet print cartridge having minimized size dimensions and capable of removable installation in a carriage. In a preferred printer environment a plurality of such print cartridges are mounted in a carriage, with each print cartridge holding a different type/color of liquid to be applied to a media material. Liquid replenishment is provided through a liquid interconnect and control signals are provided through an electric interconnect, which are respectively positioned in spaced apart locations on opposite sides of the print cartridge.
