Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A method may include identifying an absence of a subscriber identity module (SIM) profile (e.g., in response to powering on a communication component). The method may further include determining a provider-specific configuration for communications with a wireless network and generating a set of SIM configuration parameters for a registration procedure with the wireless network based on identifying the absence of the SIM profile and the provider-specific configuration. The method may further include performing a registration procedure with the wireless network using the set of SIM configuration parameters.

Methods and apparatus for initializing a SIM card may include sending a request to read a file from the SIM card. In addition, the methods and apparatus may include receiving a SIM version identifier for the file from the SIM card and determining whether the SIM version identifier matches a cached version identified in a cache. When the SIM version identifier matches the cached version identifier, the methods and apparatus may include accessing the file from the cache.

In one aspect a smart storage device is provided that is configured to be coupled to a wireless communications apparatus operating in a wireless communications network. The updating of the information is based on at least a portion of the updated network access information.

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for refreshing information stored on a smart storage device. In one aspect a smart storage device is provided that is configured to be coupled to a wireless communications apparatus operating in a wireless communications network. The smart storage device includes a memory configured to store network access information for accessing services of the network. The smart storage device further includes a controller configured to send a message to the wireless communications apparatus including data notifying the wireless communications apparatus of an update to the network access information. The data further includes a command that the wireless communications apparatus suspend an active operation of the wireless communications apparatus and initiate updating information managed by the wireless communications apparatus based on one or more conditions. The updating of the information is based on at least a portion of the updated network access information. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

A method for switching a Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC) transmission protocol includes: setting an operational mode of the UICC to an ISO 7816-12 USB UICC transmission protocol mode (USB mode); and in response to a user input, enabling the UICC to fallback from the USB mode to an ISO 7816-3 T=0/T=1 transmission protocol mode (ISO mode).

For example, when the gateway detects that the response is complete, it may push the current socket back into a socket queue and start serving the next socket.

A first complex command, with a first processing time, may be received from the processor. An initial response to the first command, including a token, may be sent to the processor. The first command may be processed for the first processing time. At least one additional command, having a processing time shorter than the first processing time, may be received from the processor. Processing of the first command may be completed. Processing of a current one of the at least one additional command, which was being processed before, during, or after completion of the processing of the first command, may be completed. A response to the current one of the at least one additional command, including the token, may be sent to the processor.

Methods and apparatus for subscription management in dual SIM devices may include using a first subscription associated with a first SIM card of a wireless device to communicate with a network. The methods and apparatus may further include detecting a presence of a second SIM card in the wireless device and automatically initializing a second subscription associated with the second SIM card in response to the detection. Methods and apparatus for subscription management in dual SIM single standby devices

Methods and systems are disclosed that provide refresh procedure to ensure successful subscriber identity module activation during active data and voice calls. A request to update a subscription data on a network application housed on a Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC) is processed by a mobile equipment (ME) and is forwarded to the UICC smart card. The UICC smart card updates the requested parameters on the network application and probes the ME to read the updated parameters. The ME polls its services to check if the network application can be refreshed. If the network application was not previously activated, the voting mechanism on refresh procedure is skipped and the ME proceeds with refreshing the network application for updating its copy of the subscription information.

Systems and methodologies are described that determine whether to communicate an update message to a UICC. A UE may be equipped a status update message from at least one of a first radio access technology (RAT) module supporting a first RAT and a second RAT module supporting a second RAT. The first RAT and the second RAT are different. Further, the UE may be equipped to determine whether to generate a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) update message to update a UICC by applying one or more RAT arbitration factors to the received status update message. The UICC includes current UICC status information associated with a current RAT. A status update message may include, a service status, RAT information, and location information, and the UE may apply the RAT arbitration factors to at least a portion of the status update message.
