A method of preventing or reducing the occurrence of Low Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI) in a direct-injected, boosted, spark-ignited internal combustion engine that, in operation, generates a break mean effective pressure level of greater than about 15 bar, at an engine speed of from about 1500 to about 2500 rotations per minute (rpm), in which the crankcase of the engine is lubricated with a lubricating oil composition containing at least about 0.2 mass % of magnesium sulfated ash.

Lubricating oil compositions

A subsea processor may be located near the seabed of a drilling site and used to coordinate operations of underwater drilling components. The subsea processor may be enclosed in a single interchangeable unit that fits a receptor on an underwater drilling component, such as a blow-out preventer (BOP). The subsea processor may issue commands to control the BOP and receive measurements from sensors located throughout the BOP. The subsea processor may relay information to the surface for recording or monitoring. The subsea processor may also be programmed with a model from which to base operation of the BOP, such as in emergency conditions.

Subsea processor for underwater drilling operations

A dual-mode router for conveying process communication packets across a plurality of distinct wireless process communication networks is provided. The router includes wireless communication circuitry and a controller coupled to the wireless communication circuitry. The wireless communication circuitry is configured to interact with signals from each of the plurality of distinct wireless process communication networks. The controller is configured to adapt process communication packets from a first distinct wireless process communication network for transmission over a second distinct wireless process communication network. Methods for configuring the distinct wireless process communication networks and relaying process packets over the distinct wireless process communication networks are also provided.

System and method for wireless process communication over distinct networks

A subsea processor may be located near the seabed of a drilling site and used to coordinate operations of underwater drilling components. The subsea processor may be enclosed in a single interchangeable unit that fits a receptor on an underwater drilling component, such as a blow-out preventer (BOP). The subsea processor may issue commands to control the BOP and receive measurements from sensors located throughout the BOP. A shared communications bus may interconnect the subsea processor and underwater components and the subsea processor and a surface or onshore network. The shared communications bus may be operated according to a time division multiple access (TDMA) scheme.

A lubricating oil composition, more specifically a lubricating oil composition for heavy duty diesel (HDD) engines having a sulfated ash content of no greater than 1.0 mass %, such as from about 0.7 to 1.0 mass %, a sulfur content of no greater than 0.4 mass %, and a phosphorus content of no greater than 0.12 mass % (1200 ppm), such as from about 0.08 to 0.12 mass %; and a TBN of from about 7 to about 15, which lubricating oil composition includes a major amount of oil of lubricating viscosity, at least about 0.5 mass % of an ashless antioxidant selected from sulfur-free phenolic antioxidants, aminic antioxidants, and mixtures thereof, and a minor amount of overbased metal detergent, wherein at least about 60% of the TBN contributed to the lubricating oil composition by overbased detergent is contributed by overbased magnesium detergent.

A system for monitoring an unsupervised worker is provided that includes a plurality of sensors and a base station provided at the monitored location, a service provider server located remotely from the monitored location and operated by a third party service provider, and a computing device associated with a subscriber to the system. At least a portion of the sensed data is sent to and stored by the service provider server so that a report based thereon may, at the request of the system subscriber, be selectively generated and provided to the system subscriber. The computing device is also adapted to generate configuration data for one or more of the sensors and transmit the configuration data to the service provider server. The configuration data is then sent to the base station and used to control the operation of the sensors.

A wireless communication system includes a wireless master node having a plurality of channels, and a number of wireless slave nodes having a plurality of the channels. The master node and the slave nodes are structured to wirelessly communicate over a particular channel. The master node and the slave nodes are structured to decide to hop to a different channel. The master node and the slave nodes are structured to select: (a) the different channel, in order to be as far away as possible from a number of the channels, which are known to cause interference to wireless communications between the master node and the slave nodes, or (b) the different channel, in order to be as close as possible to one of the channels of a different master node, which is compatible with the former master node, but without the different channel being employed by the different master node.

Channel hopping method of interference avoidance for a wireless communication network and wireless communication system employing the same

A method of network communication includes employing a communication network protocol stack having a plurality of independent communication layers providing a plurality of different corresponding services. A buffer manager is employed for a plurality of communication buffers. The buffer manager is independent of the independent communication layers. An application framework provides asynchronous communications among the buffer manager and the independent communication layers. For a plurality of pairs of the buffer manager and one of the independent communication layers and for a plurality of pairs of the independent communication layers, the method provides subscribing by the buffer manager and by the independent communication layers to a plurality of events through the application framework and publishing by the buffer manager and by the independent communication layers a plurality of corresponding events through the application framework.

Method of managing communication buffers employing an application framework for a plurality of communication layers and node employing the same

A system for pairing wireless nodes includes a plurality of device nodes, such as lamp nodes, a plurality of sensor nodes, such as light switch nodes, and a context manager node. Each of the device nodes, the sensor nodes and the context manager node includes a first communication channel having radio frequency signals and a diverse second communication channel including wireless non-radio frequency signals. Some of the device nodes and the sensor nodes are adapted to collect context information of a corresponding communication environment and to transfer the collected context information to the context manager node. The context manager node is adapted to employ the collected context information and enable automated distributed pairing of a first node of the device nodes and sensor nodes with another second node of the device nodes and sensor nodes.
