A moving decoy that better captures the natural movements of a goose or similar game bird in critical aspects, most notably, the characteristic, highly flexible goose neck and the wagging of the tail is provided. The invention provides an improved set of neck vertebrae for use in this application and may operate as integrated into the rest of the decoy or as a modular neck modular neck may be attached to a variety of different decoys. Actuation of the neck may be provided by self-contained electrical motor and power unit in the latter case. In an alternative embodiment remote access of the neck may be provided by cables run between the decoy and a remote location.

Goose decoy with head and tail movement

An electronic system having a central controller coupled to a plurality of remote transceiver modules by means of a serial bus. The modules are designed to remain in a sleep mode in which they consume no power until such time as a wakeup signal is sent over the bus by the central controller. Each module includes a source of power and power supply circuitry adapted to provide power for operating the module when the power supply circuitry is connected to the source of power. Each module further includes an energy detector coupled to the bus and adapted to connect the power supply circuitry to the source of power upon detection of energy, in the form of the wakeup signal, on the bus. Within each module is a microprocessor which responds to the provision of power by maintaining the connection between the source of power and the power supply after the wakeup signal has terminated and until such time as the module completes its assigned task.

Serial bus communications system

A method and system for evaluating lead-acid battery jars in a battery backup or standby system applies, in a stepwise manner, a current load across a group of adjacent jars. Voltage measurements are taken across each jar in the group at various times during the application of the current load. These measurements are utilized to calculate the ohmic resistance, the charge transfer resistance and the double layer capacitance of each jar.

Connections between batteries and impedance measuring circuitry in a system for on-line measurement of battery cell impedance is effected by twisted wire triplets.

Noise reduction in an on-line battery impedance measurement system

The amount of liquid dielectric fuel in a tank is monitored with a capacitor including first and second electrodes immersed in the fuel. The fuel level determines the capacitance between the electrodes. Contaminants in the fuel are reflected as a shunt resistor for the capacitance between the electrodes. A periodic symmetrical triangle voltage is applied to the electrodes. The impedance between the electrodes responds to the voltage by deriving a composite current having a constant amplitude square wave component and a component that is a replica of the periodic voltage. The amplitude of the constant amplitude component is determined, in one embodiment, by sampling the amplitude of the composite current at the center of each square wave component to indicate the capacitance and the amount of fuel in the tank independently of effects of the shunt resistor on the electrodes. In a second embodiment, the amplitude of the composite current is sampled at two different times to indicate the slope of the replica and provide a measure of the resistor. By interpolating the two sampled amplitudes the capacitance is determined.
