A method, user equipment, network device, and software product employ indicators from a plurality of respective cells to indicate a difference, if any, regarding allocation in the respective cell as compared to neighbor cells. Mobility measurements are then performed according to the indicators, and also on the basis of configuration of a cell where the measurements are performed.

Method, apparatus, and computer program product for signaling allocation of neighbor cells

A cell informs surrounding cells about an orthogonal resource allocation strategy of the informing cell so as to induce cooperative behavior among the cells. The informing cell also receives resource allocation strategies from the surrounding cells. Each cell allocates its orthogonal resources according to the mutually exchanged information. The result is to reduce interference in the system. For example, a BS informs other cells on which clusters it generates a small interference, e.g., close UEs concentrated into a particular cluster, and indicate that to its neighbors. Other cells would concentrate UEs which are on the edge to the indicating cell exactly in this cluster. This would mean an 'overload invitation', i.e. inviting the neighbors to produce overload on a particular cluster. If a cell sends an overload invitation on a sufficiently large cluster, this will automatically reduce the interference in the other clusters.

Exchange of scheduling strategies for interference coordination

One or more identifiers are set for each terminal and a priority ranking is allocated to each identifier to determine priority of one scheduling command relative to any other scheduling command. A data block is transmitted from the base station to the, or each, terminal, including the scheduling command and at least one identifier. Each terminal indicated by the identifier adapts its power level or data rate in accordance with the scheduling command.

A method determines the position of a mobile object by using at least one radio signal having a rotating transmission characteristic with at least one reference station. The relation between the orientation of the transmission characteristic and reference events is communicated to the mobile object. The orientation of the transmission characteristic and the relative position with respect to the reference station can be determined from the reference event.
