A cooling system for air ports and other ports in furnace walls includes a cooling medium pumping system and ports provided with a cooling medium piping or channels inside the metallic port material. The liquid flow generated by the cooling medium system cools the ports. The ports are constructed of a casting material, and the ports are provided with a cooling liquid flow, which passes in a piping or pipings or channels inside the casting material of the ports.

Cooling system for ports in a boiler

An arrangement is disclosed for supplying an air jet form to the furnace of a recovery boiler, where the furnace has a front wall, a rear wall and side walls. Black liquor spraying devices are disposed on the furnace walls on one or several levels of the furnace. A plurality of air ports are located at several horizontal elevations for introducing air into the furnace from an air supply. In the arrangement for the secondary air flows, at least two horizontal air levels at different elevations are arranged above the lower primary levels and below the black liquor sprayer. Secondary air is supplied from two opposite walls. The secondary air ports on each of said first and second horizontal elevations comprise air ports for each horizontal elevation that project a pattern of large air jets into the furnace from said opposite walls and said secondary air ports further comprise a plurality of secondary air ports on at least one of the elevations that project smaller air jets into the furnace.

Combustion air system for recovery boilers, burning spent liquors from pulping processes

A spent liquor recovery boiler system including a boiler having a water/steam circulation system with superheaters and a furnace for recovering energy and chemicals from spent liquor combusted therein, the walls of the boiler are formed of a plurality of water-cooled tubes connected to the water/steam circulation system. The system is provided with at least one cavity having walls formed of water-cooled tubes connected to the water/steam circulation system, means for combusting a fuel and at least one outlet for discharging combustion gases to the boiler, the interior of the at least one cavity being provided with heat exchanger means for final superheating of the steam generated in the boiler, said heat exchanger means being connected to the superheaters of the boiler.

System for producing energy at a pulp mill

A spent liquor recovery boiler in the pulp and paper industry including a water/steam circulation system having superheaters, the circulation system connected to a steam turbine comprising a high-pressure part, and a furnace for burning spent liquor to produce flue gases, and including an upper portion through which the flue gases flow, wherein the steam/water circulation system of the recovery boiler is provided with a reheater for reheating steam from the high-pressure part of the turbine.

Apparatus and method for producing energy at a pulp mill

An arrangement is disclosed for supplying an air jet form to the furnace of a recovery boiler, where the furnace has a front wall, a rear wall and side walls. Black liquor spraying devices are disposed on the furnace walls at one or several levels of the furnace. A plurality of air ports are located at several horizontal levels for introducing air into the furnace from an air supply. In the arrangement for the secondary air flows, two horizontal air levels at different elevations are arranged above the lower primary levels and below the black liquor sprayer. Secondary air is supplied from two opposite walls and the air ports from each of the two levels are located so that the air jets are introduced in an interlaced pattern having an even number of jets on one opposite wall and an uneven number of jets on the other opposite wall. The air jets of said at least two air levels are located substantially one above each other in substantially vertical rows.

The invention relates to a method and an arrangement in the production of electric energy in a boiler plant of a pulp mill. Black liquor having a dry solids content of more than 80% and combustion air are fed into a furnace of a recovery boiler for combusting black liquor and recovering chemicals contained therein. The flue gases generated in the combustion are led into an economizer of the recovery boiler, in which economizer the feed water for the boiler is heated, and after the economizer to gas cleaning. The feed water is led from the economizer onto the steam-generating bank at a temperature below the saturation temperature and further into a superheater to produce steam having a pressure of more than 80 bar. The steam is led from the recovery boiler to a steam turbine to produce electricity. The temperature of the feed water being led into the economizer is regulated by means of bleed steam of the turbine so that the flue gases exit the economizer at a temperature of more than 250&deg; C. and that after the economizer the flue gases are cleaned in at least a hot electrostatic precipitator and the cleaned flue gases are cooled by the combustion air or the feed water.

Method and arrangement for producing electrical energy at a pulp mill

A cleaning device is disclosed for cleaning an air port in a wall of a furnace having an air register adjacent to the air port outside of the wall of the furnace, the cleaning device comprising: a cleaning head having a substantially-open, cross-sectional shape conforming to a cross-sectional shape of the air port, said clean head moving reciprocally in and out of the air port, and a head support extending from the cleaning head, through the air register and attached to an actuator, said actuator reciprocally moving the head support, and said head support having perforated walls permitting to flow through the walls.

Cleaning device for cleaning air ports of a furnace

A method and apparatus for extending the life of air ports and nozzles in furnaces, particularly recovery boilers for burning black liquor to produce heat and a chemical melt. Apparatus is provided for feeding combustion air into a furnace having a tube wall, the apparatus comprising: an air port disposed in the tube wall, and connected to an air duct through which air flows into and then through the air port, and into the furnace; and a protective insert of heat conductive and heat and corrosion resistant material mounted in the air port and positioned so that it is cooled by the air flowing through the air port. The protective insert has sufficient thermal mass (e.g. a volume of between 40,000-4,000,000 cubic mm) so as to effectively even out temperature peaks caused by melt splashes from the furnace impacting the vicinity of the air port, e. g. the protective insert is made out of highly corrosion resistant steel such as stainless steel. The air port may be defined by, or comprise, a nozzle having an interior and a bottom portion; and wherein the protective insert is preferably releasably mounted to the interior bottom portion of the nozzle in the air flow from an air duct to the furnace.
