According to an example embodiment, a method for processing a multi-channel input audio signal representing a sound field into a multi-channel output audio signal representing said sound field in accordance with a predefined loudspeaker layout is provided, the method comprising the following for at least one frequency band: obtaining spatial audio parameters that are descriptive of spatial characteristics of said sound field; estimating a signal energy of the sound field represented by the multi-channel input audio signal; estimating, based on said signal energy and the obtained spatial audio parameters, respective output signal energies for channels of the multi-channel output audio signal according to said predefined loudspeaker layout; determining a maximum output energy as the largest of the output signal energies across channels of said multi-channel output audio signal; and deriving, on basis of said maximum output energy, a gain value for adjusting sound reproduction gain in at least one of said channels of the multi-channel output audio signal.

Spatial audio processing

A method is provided that includes obtaining two or more microphone audio signals; analysing the two or more microphone audio signals for a defined noise type; and processing the two or more microphone audio signals based on the analysis to generate at least one audio signal suitable for automatic speech recognition. A corresponding apparatus is also provided.

Pre-processing for automatic speech recognition

Replacement of an encoded audio output signal is disclosed. In one example, a data set comprising a first encoded audio output signal and associated pre-stored digital audio input signals captured with a microphone array of an apparatus is received. An intermediate audio signal is produced by applying an audio processing modification to the digital audio input signals. The audio processing modification utilizes apparatus specific information. The specific audio processing modification to use is determined based on user input or other information. The intermediate audio signal is encoded to produce a second encoded audio output signal. The first encoded audio output signal is replaced with the second encoded audio output signal in the data set.

Replacing an encoded audio output signal

An apparatus comprising: an input configured to receive at least two groups of at least two audio signals; a first audio former configured to generate a first formed audio signal from a first of the at least two groups of at least two audio signals; a second audio former configured to generate a second formed audio signal from the second of the at least two groups of at least two audio signals; an audio analyzer configured to analyze the first formed audio signal and the second formed audio signal to determine at least one audio source and an associated audio source signal; and an audio signal synthesizer configured to generate at least one output audio signal based on the at least one audio source and the associated audio source signal.

Audio apparatus

An apparatus for providing directional audio capture may include a processor and memory storing executable computer program code that cause the apparatus to at least perform operations including assigning at least one beam direction, among a plurality of beam directions, in which to direct directionality of an output signal of one or more microphones. The computer program code may further cause the apparatus to divide microphone signals of the microphones into selected frequency subbands wherein an analysis performed. The computer program code may further cause the apparatus to select at least one set of microphones of the apparatus for selected frequency subbands. The computer program code may further cause the apparatus to optimize the assigned at least one beam direction by adjusting a beamformer parameter(s) based on the selected set of microphones and at least one of the selected frequency subbands. Corresponding methods and computer program products are also provided.
