Cutting inserts

A broach tool and a broach insert for chip removing machining of metals are provided. The broach tool includes an elongate holder and at least one cutting unit. The holder comprises at least one recess for the receipt of the cutting unit. The broach tool has a feeding direction. The broach tool includes clamping members for each cutting unit. Each clamping member is arranged in front of the cutting unit in the feeding direction. The cutting unit is a replaceable broach insert including a base part and a cutting part. A notch is formed centrally in a rear side surface of the broach insert. The recess includes a rear wall formed with a projection, the cross section of which is U-shaped and includes arms. The arms are arranged to be elastically deformed by the notch.

Broach tool and a broach insert

A cutting tool includes a cutting insert and a toolholder including at least one insert supporting surface. A first clamp is adapted to apply a clamping force in a first direction to clamp the insert to the insert supporting surface, and a second clamp is adapted to limit rotation of the insert about an axis extending substantially in the first direction. The toolholder includes a second insert supporting surface. The second clamp applies a clamping force to the insert in a second direction to clamp the insert to the second insert supporting surface, and the second insert supporting surface is disposed on an opposite side of the insert from the second clamp.

An indexable milling insert has a trigon shape and includes a mounting hole placed centrally in the milling insert, an upper side and a lower side, which sides are parallel with each other and act as an alternating first support surface and second support surface. The milling insert is furthermore provided with major cutting edges, which are oriented perpendicularly to the axis of the mounting hole as well as arranged in such a way that a turning of the milling insert around the center of the mounting hole into an alternative cutting position alternatively a flipping of the milling insert into an alternative cutting position provides an identical position of the major cutting edges in relation to a workpiece. The major cutting edges of the milling insert are furthermore placed in the milling insert, when the same is tangentially mounted in a cutting body, so that the shortest distance of the major cutting edges to the axis of the hole in top view is smaller than the distance of a third support surface to the axis of the hole. A milling cutter tool having such a milling insert mounted is also disclosed.

Cutting insert and a tool

The present invention relates to a tool head preferably for milling. The tool head is connectable to a toolholder. The tool head includes a cutting portion and a mounting portion. The mounting portion includes an axial stop surface and a radial stop surface. Dimensions and tolerances of the axial stop surface and the radial stop surface are selected such that the axial stop surface will abut an axial stop on the toolholder to prevent axial movement of the toolholder relative to the tool head beyond the axial stop surface and the radial stop surface will be disposed proximate a radial stop of the toolholder to limit radial movement of the tool head relative to the toolholder when an integral fastening portion of the tool head and an integral fastening portion of the toolholder are fastened directly to one another and the axial stop surface and the axial stop abut.

Cutting tool and tool head

The present invention relates to an indexable milling insert and a milling tool for chip removing machining. The milling insert is intended to be able to mill substantially perpendicular corners in a work piece. The milling insert comprises an upper side, a lower side and edge surfaces extending therebetween. The upper side and the lower side are substantially identical. An imaginary circle inscribed in the milling insert touches the milling insert periphery in four to six points. Lines of intersection between the edge surfaces and the sides form relative to each other substantially perpendicular main cutting edges and minor cutting edges. Each of the sides includes a support surface, each of which being provided in a plane. Each minor cutting edge projects from the plane of the associated support surface. Each major cutting edge intersects the plane of the associated support surface.

Milling insert and a milling tool

The present invention relates to a replaceable cutting tip and, more particularly, to such cutting tips attachable to the cutting tip holders by a threaded connection. The cutting tip for a cutting tool includes a working end portion disposed along an axis of the cutting tip and including one or more cutting edges for machining a workpiece, and a mounting portion disposed along the axis of the cutting tip. The mounting portion includes a frustoconical supporting surface tip portion and a frustoconical threaded portion. The present invention also relates to a cutting tool per se.

Cutting tool

The present invention relates to a tool and a male part for chip removing machining. The tool includes a male part and a holder for the male part. The male part includes a radial and axial supporting and positioning portion and a threaded portion. A largest diameter of the externally threaded portion is smaller than a smallest diameter of the radially and axially supporting and positioning portion. A transition portion is disposed along the axis of the male part between a radially largest portion of the radially and axially supporting and positioning portion and the externally threaded portion.

Tool for chip removing machining

The present invention relates to a cutting tool and a cutting insert. The tool includes a toolholder and at least one insert adapted for mounting relative to the toolholder. The at least one insert includes at least one chip removal channel.

Cutting tool with replaceable cutting inserts

A cutting tool for, e.g., dressing electrode tips includes a toolholder having an opening extending through the toolholder from a top of the toolholder to a bottom of the toolholder along a central axis of the toolholder, and a plurality of insert mounting pockets disposed around the opening for mounting replaceable cutting inserts, the plurality of insert mounting pockets including a center pocket, a top pocket, and a bottom pocket. The tool also includes a center insert removably disposed in the center pocket, a top insert removably disposed in the top pocket, and a bottom insert removably disposed in the bottom pocket. When a top electrode tip and a bottom electrode tip are disposed in a dressing position relative to a top and a bottom of the opening in the toolholder and the tool is rotated, the center insert and the top insert dress the top electrode tip, and the center insert and the bottom insert dress the bottom electrode tip.

An indexable insert includes an insert body including a plurality of cutting edge portions and an insert hole arrangement for permitting the insert to be secured to a toolholder. The insert hole arrangement includes at least one securing screw-receiving hole. The insert hole arrangement is configured to permit a securing screw to extend through the insert body along any one of at least two different axes through the insert hole arrangement, the insert hole arrangement including a screw abutment surface for abutting against the securing screw.

Indexable cutting insert

The present invention relates to a thread milling cutter, which includes a cutting head, having a holder with a number of cutting insert pockets, a number of threading inserts, which are received in the cutting insert pockets and an attachment integrated with the cutting head, which attachment is intended to be received in a tool coupling. The invention also relates to the holder per se and to a method for milling an external thread on a spigot. The holder is provided with an internal cavity, which has an extension both radially and axially with regard to a rotational axis of the thread milling cutter, and the cutting insert pockets are provided in the internal cavity.

A milling tool includes a milling body and a plurality of cutting inserts. The milling body has fastening devices to hold the cutting inserts in a plurality of respective insert pockets each having at least one base surface. Each of the cutting inserts has at least one cutting edge. The tool has a rotational axis and a rotational direction, as well as a feed direction and an end surface. The milling tool is provided to cut a work piece substantially in an axial direction of the tool, which is substantially perpendicular to the feed direction.
