A modular crawler-track unit for a forest machine has an engine, a chassis with a pivot bearing and a crawler-track frame. A sleeve shaft is attached to the crawler-track frame to support the crawler-track frame on the pivot bearing. A drive wheel is mounted in bearings in the crawler-track frame inside a circulation of a crawler mat. A support is arranged in the crawler-track frame inside the circulation to support a part of the crawler mat against the ground. A drive shaft is mounted in bearings in the crawler-track frame coaxially with the sleeve shaft to transmit power to the crawler-track unit. A shaft mounted in bearings on the crawler-track frame pivots the drive wheel to the crawler-track frame at a distance from the drive shaft. A power-transmission is fitted between the shaft and the drive shaft to transmit power from the drive shaft to the drive wheel.

An arrangement in connection with a crosscutting saw of a harvester. Herein, a lattice-like structure composed of strips is provided in a saw casing of the crosscutting saw, the structure being substantially on the same section plane as the rotational movement of a chain of the crosscutting saw. The strips are arranged in the saw casing in such a manner that substantially each movement path tangent generated at a lower edge in a guide bar of the chain or at an outer track on the side of the saw casing in the chain wheel is arranged to encounter a surface in the strip. This provides a structure that enhances a controlled removal of sawdust or other pieces flowing to the saw casing during sawing.

Arrangement in connection with crosscutting saw of harvester

A method and arrangement for adjusting a feed rate of a crosscut saw (), in particular, in a harvesting head of a forest machine during the crosscutting of wood () in the apparatus. A feed force (F) of the crosscut saw and/or a rotating rate (v) of a cutter chain () revolving around a guide bar () are thus controlled. The control is implemented such that first the feed rate (v) of the crosscut saw () is measured at given intervals. By adjusting thereafter the feed force of the actuator () controlling the crosscut saw and/or the rotating rate (v) of the cutter chain () and by determining the effect of the performed adjustment on the feed rate of the crosscut saw any change (&#x3b4;v) in the feed rate and the most advantageous adjustment measure to be performed next is concluded.
