The invention relates to a press belt for a shoe press. A press belt () is an endless loop made of elastomeric material and its outer surface () is provided with several grooves () to remove water. On the outer surface () of the press belt, there is at least one section where the depths (GD) of adjacent drain grooves, from the outer surface, change constantly. The invention also relates to an arrangement in a long nip and to a method of manufacturing a press belt.

A method for fitting a tubular roll shell () of a roll () in a paper or board machine. In the method, the roll shell () is supported on a stationary roll shaft () by means of hydrostatic slide bearing elements ('), acting on the roll shell () in radially opposite directions, at least in the direction of a plane co-directional with a first plane or a plane parallel to a primary loading (F) and in a plane substantially lateral to a plane co-directional with the primary loading (F). The slide bearing elements (&#x2032;) are loaded hydraulically by means of a pressure fluid. The lateral bearing elements (&#x2032;) acting in radially opposite directions have a hydrostatic pressure thereof adjusted by means of a regulator () having feedback connection with the main bearing elements (&#x2032;) acting in the direction of a plane co-directional with the primary loading (F) to comply at a predetermined ratio with the maximum hydrostatic pressure of the main bearing elements (&#x2032;) acting on the roll shell (). The invention relates further to an apparatus for applying the method.

Roll in a paper or board machine

The invention relates to a method for providing a roll ( ) for a paper machine with sliding bearings, the roll comprising a stationary roll axle ( ) and a tubular roll mantle ( ) arranged to revolve around it. In the method, the roll mantle ( ) is supported on the roll axle ( ) by means of hydraulic sliding bearing members ( ) which are arranged to accomplish radial fitting with bearings of the roll mantle in the loading direction and in the lateral direction with respect to it, and the axial fitting with bearings of the roll mantle. The sliding bearing members are loaded by means of a hydraulic medium, the feed of which to the sliding bearing members is controlled by means of control valves ( ). In the method relating to the invention, when loading (F) is applied to the sliding bearing member ( ) effective in the loading direction, the loading force applied to the sliding bearing member ( ) subject to an external load due to the loading is compensated for automatically, essentially immediately, without an external control instruction, by means of the movement of the control valve ( ) stem ( ) of the sliding bearing member ( ) subject to loading, the said control valve ( ) bringing about a rapid increase in the pressure of the hydraulic medium in the sliding bearing member ( ) subject to the external load, at the same time as the pressure of the medium supplied to the sliding bearing member ( ) located radially on the opposite side of the roll axle ( ) in the loading direction is adjusted to a certain minimum value, whereby the bearings of the roll mantle are rendered so as to be essentially without stroke. The invention also relates to a roll for a paper machine which is provided with sliding bearings.

The present invention relates to an end packing ( ) for a deflection compensated roll. The roll including a stationary shaft ( ) and a roll shell ( ), bearing-mounted rotatably therearound and having each end thereof provided with a shaft-enclosing annular end cap ( ). The end cap ( ) has its surface internal in the axial direction of the roll or its surface external in the axial direction formed with a sealing surface ( ). The end packing elements ( ) are provided with an annular packing member ( ) extending around the shaft ( ) and including a front face, which is directed towards said sealing surface ( ) and which is in contact with the sealing surface ( ) or separated from the sealing surface ( ) by a gap constituting an axially directed narrow slot. The packing member ( ) is provided with elements connected to a supply of compressed air for delivering compressed air into a cavity ( ) between the packing member and the sealing surface, whereby the compressed air striving to flow between the packing member's front face and the sealing surface into and out of the roll functions as a seal.

A deflection compensated roll has a stationary support structure and a shell rotatably arranged around it by means of slide bearings. The shell is additionally supported on the support structure with hydraulic loading devices by which the axial profile of the shell can be controlled. In the procedure, at least the pressure acting in the main bearing elements of the slide bearings effective in oppsite directions in the nip plane is measured by conducting pressure data from a pressure space between a control valve associated with the main bearing elements and each main bearing element by means of measurement ducts outside the roll where the pressure data is passed to a pressure sensor.

An arrangement is disclosed for removing oil from a roll, in which, inside a rotatable shell, there is a fixed axle beam, which supports loading shoes directed against the inner surface of the shell. An oil guide attached to the loading shoes creates an inwardly-directed jet of oil, next to and at a short distance from which a collector trough is located. The oil guide and an auxiliary guide attached to the collector trough guide and cancel the oil jet against the collector trough. The oil is removed to an outlet pipe through a low gap in the bottom of the collector trough.

A sliding bearing axial fitting of a roll mantle of a roll in a paper or board machine for preventing a relative axial movement of the roll mantle with respect to a stationary roll axial, the roll mantle being fitted with a bearing to permit revolution of the roll mantle about the stationary roll axle. The sliding bearing axial fitting includes a ring portion attached to the roll mantle, a backing ring attached to the stationary roll axle, a first set of hydrostatic axial sliding bearing members arranged between a first side of the ring portion and a shoulder of the roll, and a second set of hydrostatic axial sliding bearing members arranged between a second side of the ring portion and the backing ring.

A method and arrangement is disclosed for removing oil from a roll, in which, inside a rotatable shell, there is a fixed axle beam, which supports loading shoes directed against the inner surface of the shell. An oil guide attached to the loading shoes creates an inwardly-directed jet of oil, next to and at a short distance from which a collector trough is located. The oil guide and an auxiliary guide attached to the collector trough guide and channel the oil jet against the collector trough. The oil is removed to an outlet pipe through a low gap in the bottom of the collector trough.

In the space between the oil collecting equipment ( ) and the outer face ( &Prime;) of the support construction ( ), a flow passage is formed, along which the oil present in the roll is guided into oil guide arrangements passing out of the roll.
