The system further comprising a display () and a camera (), wherein the light source array () comprises a plurality of individually controllable lighting units, and wherein the light source array () has been positioned relative to the display (). The method () comprises: rendering () a pattern () on the display (), controlling () one or more lighting units of a first segment () of the light source array () according to a first light setting, controlling () one or more lighting units of a second segment () of the light source array () according to a second light setting, obtaining () an image () captured by the camera (), the image () comprising the display (), the first segment () and the second segment (), detecting () the pattern () in the image (), detecting () the first light setting and the second light setting in the image (), determining () positions of the first segment () and the second segment () relative to the display () in the image () based on the first light setting, the second light setting and the pattern () in the image (), and determining () a mapping of the plurality of the individually controllable lighting units with respect to the display () based on the positions of the first segment () and the second segment () relative to the display () in the image (), such that when media content is being rendered on the display () one or more lighting units of the plurality of the individually controllable lighting units are controlled based on the media content according to the mapping.

Control system and method of configuring a light source array

A lighting device comprising a lighting unit comprising a plurality of lighting modules and a termination module, wherein the termination module is configured to have an electrical characteristic different from that of each lighting module, such that it draws a different amount of current in response to an applied drive voltage. The present invention suggests automatically determining a lighting module count of the lighting unit upon detection of the termination module, by measuring a change of a current passing through the lighting unit while sequentially activating the modules of the lighting unit.

A method comprises receiving () information identifying power on/off-related behavior (e.g. shutdown moment and/or elapsed time) from each of the plurality of lighting devices and partitioning the plurality of lighting devices in groups of lighting devices, e.g. Group1: L1+L2 and Group2: L3, based on the received information. Each of the groups comprises only lighting devices with similar power on/off-related behavior. The method further comprises controlling () the lighting device in response to a user command, determining that a problem has occurred when controlling the lighting device, and identifying the group that comprises the lighting device. The method also comprises determining a power on/off state of at least one other lighting device in the identified group, determining diagnostic information based the determined power on/off states, and providing () the diagnostic information to the user. The diagnostic information indicates a likely cause for the problem.

Diagnosing a problem occurring when controlling a lighting device based on lighting device grouping information

A method () of controlling a lighting unit () of a lighting system () is disclosed. The lighting system () comprises the lighting unit () and a lighting control device () comprising a user input element () for receiving a continuous user input for changing an intensity of the light output of the lighting unit (). The method () comprises receiving () a signal indicative of the continuous user input, obtaining () one or more parameters, the one or more of parameters comprising at least a current light setting of the lighting unit (), the current light setting having an intensity level between a predefined maximum intensity level and a predefined minimum intensity level, and controlling the intensity of the light output of the lighting unit () over time while the continuous user input is being provided, wherein the intensity of the light output is either increased or decreased based on the one or more parameters.

Controller for controlling a lighting unit of a lighting system and a method thereof

A monitor device is provided for monitoring a lighting arrangement of lighting elements of unknown electrical load, and a driver using the monitoring arrangement. A set of duty cycles is applied to switches which control sub-sets of lighting elements thereby to create a desired light output. With this desired duty cycle setting, the current for an individual duty cycle period is monitored, in particular to detect variations in a current plateau level within the individual duty cycle period. This is used to determine electrical characteristics or parameters including at least a cable resistance between a power supply unit and the lighting arrangement. A power consumption of the lighting arrangement may then be obtained. This avoids the need to probe the sub-sets of lighting elements individually in order to determine the nature of the load and its power consumption.
