Certain examples described herein relate to replaceable production material containers for additive manufacturing systems. In an example of a replaceable production material container, an electrical storage device provides at least one production material characteristic to an element of an additive manufacturing system. In certain examples, the electrical storage device stores a range parameter for indicating a production material characteristic offset value in a plurality of production material characteristic offset values. In certain examples, the electrical storage device stores a proportion parameter for determining the at least one production material characteristic on the basis of the production material characteristic offset value.

Container for an additive manufacturing system

An additive manufacturing material management station, comprising: a build material supply conduit () with a build material supply connector () to releasably connect between a management station body and a build material supply container to couple a flow of a fluid carrying a building material supply from within the supply container to the management station body; and a station data processor, wherein the supply connector comprises: a connector body; a suction nozzle () projecting from the connector body to form a mating fit with an outlet of a build material supply container in use; and a data communicator to provide data communication between the station data processor and a data memory chip () of the supply container ().

Additive manufacturing material management station

Ejected liquid forms a latent image on a charged transfer surface. In some invention aspects electrostatic charge is first applied to the surface; inkjet devices eject the image-forming liquid; voltage is established between the devices and surface; another, separate substance associated with the latent image actuates it. In other aspects hydrophobic or hydrophilic material in the surface stabilizes the image on it; electrostatic apparatus, associated with the surface, cooperates with the stabilizing material, further controlling image-droplet position and size. In other aspects a desired image forms on a final printing medium, based on an input electronic image-data array; the liquid ejection is onto an intermediate transfer surface, based on detailed incremental control by the data, forming a latent image representing the desired image. An actuating substance, initially discrete from the liquid, is associated with the image, and a reaction initiated to modify that substance&#x2014;which is transferred from surface to final medium.

Latent inkjet printing, to avoid drying and liquid-loading problems, and provide sharper imaging

PPS variation along a scan axis is found by shining a light beam from pen carriage to print-medium position and back to detector, and applying a pathlength/intensity correlation. Sensing is done while scanning, to find relative PPS profile along the track. With no medium in place this measures mechanical imperfections&#x2014;and can be corrected by later deducting thickness of a medium. If medium is present, adjustment is omitted. For absolute values a plural-lamp sensor is calibrated for each lamp, at the PPS design point. Pagewide/webwide variants are included.

The present invention is embodied in a system and method for producing efficient ink drop overlap filled with a pseudo hexagonal grid pattern. In general, the present invention can include an inkjet printhead assembly that incorporates a preprogrammed correction scheme or schemes [1-n] (herein correction scheme will refer to all applications), for correcting systematic ink drop placement errors of the inkjet printhead. The printing system of the present invention uses a unique ink dot pattern, called a pseudo-hexagonal close pack system. The present invention optimizes the addressable grid for dot placement, pseudo hexagonal close pack system, with an efficient geometry for packing circles to fill an area, similar to the hexagonal close pack system. However, the present invention in creating dots on a non-symmetric grid is supported by available software and is not computationally complex.

System and method for producing efficient ink drop overlap filled with a pseudo hexagonal grid pattern

A method of determining a registration offset in a hard copy apparatus, the apparatus comprising a pen arranged to mark a print medium and a sensor arranged to detect marks on the medium along a sensor path, the method comprising the steps of: marking a alignment pattern on the medium, the pattern being at least partially located along the sensor path; detecting the position along the sensor path of a portion of the pattern; and, determining a distance by which the pattern is offset from the sensor path in a direction substantially perpendicular to the sensor path, the pattern being configured such that the detected position is indicative of the offset distance.

Techniques for measuring the position of marks on media and for aligning inkjet devices

An ink jet printing process for removing or substantially hiding vertical bands which may be produced during a printing operation includes the application of a controlled variance to shift the horizontal position of certain ink drops fired from certain nozzles. That is, instead of firing ink drops from each of the nozzles simultaneously, the controlled variance causes the ink drops to be fired at various times after the firing signal has been received. The controlled variance may involve a mathematical formula applied to set the level of horizontal shift for each of the ink drops. Examples of suitable mathematical formulae include sinusoidal functions, Bessel functions, and Tschebysheff polynomials.
