A ventilator includes electronic control circuitry configured to control a supply of breathing gas for a plurality of respiratory cycles, measure a volume received by the patient in each of the plurality of respiratory cycles, and determine, for each cycle of the plurality of respiratory cycles, a cycle score corresponding to a deviation between the volume of the cycle and a predetermined target volume. The determined cycle score can be selected from a predetermined number of cycle scores that span positive and negative numbers based on the deviation. A pressure step value can be determined based on a plurality of cycle scores corresponding to the plurality of respiratory cycles, and a current pressure of the breathing gas is adjusted by an amount corresponding to the determined pressure step value. The pressure step value may be generated by dividing a sum of the plurality of cycle scores by a sample size.

Methods for controlling mechanical lung ventilation

A method for controlling mechanical lung ventilation is described. The method may include intermittently switching the airway pressure of a patient from a first baseline pressure level to a second baseline pressure and vice-versa such that the patient is able to breathe spontaneously in both first and second baseline pressure levels; detecting an inspiration effort by the patient within a predetermined period of time before a switching event of the intermittently switching the airway pressure; and controlling, responsive to detecting a breathing effort, a flow control valve and an exhalation valve to adjust a length of the first period of time according to a delay time so a patient inspiration-exhalation cycle is completed prior to the switching event.

A method for controlling mechanical lung ventilation is described. The method may include intermittently switching the airway pressure of the patient from a substantially constant high baseline pressure level to a substantially constant low baseline pressure and vice-versa such that the patient is able to breathe spontaneously in both high and low baseline pressure levels; detecting an inspiration effort by the patient inside a trigger time window that immediately precedes a switching event of the intermittently switching the airway pressure; maintaining a baseline pressure at the level in which the inspiration effort was detected so that the patient can complete the inspiration-exhalation cycle; and switching the baseline pressure level after a delay time.

A method for controlling mechanical lung ventilation is described. The method may include supplying a breathing gas to an airway of a patient in an intermittent way such that a plurality of respiratory cycles are formed; measuring a volume received by the patient in one or more respiratory cycles of the plurality of respiratory cycles; comparing the measured volume of each of the one or more respiratory cycles with a user defined target volume; attributing a classifying score to each of the one or more respiratory cycles based at least partially on a deviation between the measured volume and the user defined target volume; summing the classifying scores and dividing the result by a sample size of the one or more respiratory cycles; attributing a pressure step value based at least partially on the division result; and adding the pressure step value to a present pressure.

A lung ventilation apparatus and system are described. The lung ventilation apparatus may include a control panel; and a graphical user interface associated with the control panel, the graphical user interface comprising a central strip content item covering at least 50% of a total area of the graphical user interface, the central strip content item representing at least one of a patient monitoring screen or surveillance screen, the central strip content item comprising a first portion and a second portion, wherein the first portion comprises numerical elements indicating ventilation parameters of a patient, and the second portion comprises a graphical element indicating pressure at a patient airway.

Lung ventilation apparatus

The present disclosure refers to a system to control mechanical lung ventilation with volume band, more particularly a system to manage respiratory cycles in patients. Preferably, said respiratory cycles are controlled under pressure, so that the volumes as inspired by the patient are maintained within a volume range, comprising a lower volume limit and an upper volume limit, which are previously determined.

Method and system to control mechanical lung ventilation

The present invention refers to a flow sensor with double obstruction disclosing a simple and innovative structure, able to promote a series of advantages and new technical effects from the combination of fixed and variable obstruction elements. More particularly, the present invention comprises a front main body () and a main body () fitted to each other so to press two obstruction elements, the first one being fixed () and the second being variable (), so to increase sensitivity and reduce the annoying noise, being especially useful to monitor patients for long periods.

A respiratory control system and apparatus for delivering controlled and or assisted respiratory cycles to the patient includes a flow and pressure control valve, exhalation valve, flow transducer, pressure transducer, and a central control unit that servo controls the flow and pressure valve and the exhalation valve based upon the flow and pressure signals from transducers and control panel. The cycles are initiated by detection of inspiratory effort or in accordance to other criteria, maintaining simultaneously the inspired flow and pressure in the airway at or above a predetermined controlled flow and controlled pressure until the delivery of a predetermined controlled volume, and also extending the maintenance of the controlled pressure by a predetermined period of time after the instant in which the volume was completed, and beyond this period until the delivered flow has decreased until a minimum flow threshold level.

Respiratory control system and apparatus

A ventilator device for artificial ventilation use in infant and pediatric wards, and which may be adapted for use with adult patients as well. The ventilator device comprises a pressure control system having at least two parallel connected exhalation valves, a pressure monitoring system having bar display, optical sensors attached to the bar display, and an alarm system with a 'no break' system including a rechargeable battery. One of the exhalation valves is connected at the beginning of the inspiratory airway and this valve is coupled with a moisturizing system. An inspiratory tube connected to the moisturizing system is connected to one branch of a 'Y' connector where the other branch of the 'Y' connector is connected to an expiratory tube leading to the other exhalation valve at the end of the expiratory airway. These exhalation valves are controlled by electronic control modules and pneumatic control through 3-way 2-position solenoid valves. These devices are capable of controlling pressure, controlling inspiratory and expiratory times, and regulating and monitoring the ratio between the inspiratory and the expiratory times. The ventilator is particularly effective in that it is capable of controlling pressure in the event of an obstruction which often increases the pressure above a safe limit, thus possibly resulting in rupturing of the lungs. The device is capable of providing a continuous flow with timed cycles and pressure control in order to guard against a sudden increase or decrease of pressure in the ventilator.
