Various examples include a system and methods in support of vendor relationship management, analysis, planning and evaluation including dealing with collections of vendors called vendor portfolios. In various examples the system includes a database, vendor portfolio definer, a vendor portfolio populator, and a vendor portfolio analyzer. The database houses vendor data. In various examples the vendor portfolio definer allows vendor portfolios to be created, meta data, including complex documents, to be associated with vendor portfolios, and user access permissions to be assigned to vendor portfolios. In various examples the vendor portfolio populator facilitates user selection of the vendors that will make up the collection of vendors in the vendor portfolio. The vendor portfolio analyzer analyzes a business metric using vendor portfolios. In various examples the vendor portfolio analyzer allows user to perform what-if analysis on vendor portfolios. In various examples the vendor portfolio definer includes a risk management definer, the vendor portfolio populator includes a risk management screener, and the vendor portfolio analyzer includes a risk manager to facilitate managing vendors base on the organizational risk they pose. In various examples the database contains information about obligations owed to and from a vendor and the vendor portfolio analyzer includes an obligation analyzer to analyze the organizational impact of vendor obligations.

Vendor portfolio management in support of vendor relationship management analysis, planning and evaluation

A system, method, and computer program product for processing data are described herein. The system maintains first databases of patents, and second databases of non-patent information of interest to a corporate entity. The system also maintains one or more groups. Each of the groups comprises any number of the patents from the first databases. The system, upon receiving appropriate operator commands, automatically processes the patents in one of the groups in conjunction with non-patent information from the second databases. Accordingly, the system performs patent-centric and group-oriented processing of data. A group can also include any number of non-patent documents. The groups may be product based, person based, corporate entity based, or user-defined. Other types of groups are also covered, such as temporary groups. The processing automatically performed by the system relates to (but is not limited to) patent mapping, document mapping, patent citation (both forward and backward), patent aging, patent bracketing/clustering (both forward and backward), inventor patent count, inventor employment information, patent claim tree analysis, and finance. Other functions and capabilities are also covered, including the ability to utilize hyperbolic trees to visualize data generated by the system, method, and computer program product, and to track, analyze, and report on information related to intellectual property (IP) transactions, including license and related agreements.

A method of displaying data, comprising the steps of defining a set of documents, each document having a unique identification and optionally citing other documents by their respective unique identification, the set being defined by selecting at least one starting document, with the set further comprising documents being included based on predetermined relationships with at least one other document in the set; generating a hierarchal tree representation of the at least one subset of documents, a subset inclusion and hierarchy thereof being defined by said predetermined relationships between documents within the set; and selectively focusing on a node of said hierarchal tree, to define a graphic display representation of at least a portion thereof to emphasize the selected focus while depicting the hierarchal relationships.
