An interface module for a unit designed to transmit and/or amplify communication signals inside an antenna distribution system includes a first analog interface for forwarding and receiving communication signals from mobile terminals and a second interface for forwarding and receiving communication signals from the antenna distribution system. A signal path forwards the received communication signals between the first and second interfaces. A controllable digital unit in the signal path is configured for digitizing incoming communication signals to digital signals and converting outgoing communication signals to analog signals. The digital unit is configured to evaluate characteristic signal parameters of the digital communication signals and select a subset of signals from the digital communication signals. The controllable digital unit is further configured for forwarding the selected subset of signals.

A repeater () particularly suitable for a time-division duplex transmission of communication signals is provided. The repeater () comprises a master unit () for communicating with a base station () of a wireless network, at least one remote unit () for communicating with a network terminal, as well as a waveguide () connecting the remote unit () with the master unit () for transmitting the communication signals in an uplink direction () from the remote unit () to the master unit () and in a downlink direction () from the master unit () to the remote unit (). Both the master unit () and the remote unit () comprise one switch () each for changing over the signal transmission between uplink direction () and downlink direction (). Both switches () are selected by a synchronizing unit () arranged in the master unit (), the synchronizing unit () being designed for determining a clock pulsing from the communication signal fed to the master unit ()&#x2014;in particular from the base station ()&#x2014;and for supplying a control signal corresponding to this clock pulsing to the switches ().

TDD repeater for a wireless network and method for operating said repeater

An interface module () for a unit () which is designed to transmit and/or amplify essential communication signals inside an antenna distribution system () is specified, said module comprising a first analog interface () for forwarding and receiving essential communication signals from mobile terminals (), a second interface () for forwarding and receiving essential communication signals from the antenna distribution system (), at least one signal path () for forwarding the received communication signals between the two interfaces (), and a controllable digital unit () which incorporates the signal path () and has means for digitizing incoming communication signals and for subjecting outgoing communication signals to analog conversion. In this case, the digital unit () is designed to identify essential communication signals in the digitized communication signals, to mask the remaining signals and to forward the essential communication signals. An antenna distribution system () having at least one master unit () and a number of remote units () which are connected to the latter and are equipped with such an interface module () is also specified. The invention makes it possible to use the advantages of a modern radio network architecture to communicate on essential communication channels.
