In recent years, development in the field of knitting tools has seen a focus on the reduction of friction and wear. A knitting tool () and a knitting device () as described herein are better able to reduce friction in knitting machines and the accumulation of dirt () than conventional knitting tools. For this purpose, a functional portion () of the knitting tool () has subsections () in which the absolute value of the gradient of a center-of-gravity line () is greater than zero.

A textile tool part pair () consisting of two textile tool parts () and a method of equipping a textile machine with the aid of such a textile tool part pair () are disclosed. Each textile tool part () extends in a longitudinal direction (L) between a trailing end () and a leading end (). Proceeding from the trailing ends () thereof, the textile tool parts () extend away from one another and counter to one another as far as the leading end (). At the trailing ends (), the two textile tool parts () of a common textile tool part pair () are interconnected by a predetermined breaking connection (). The predetermined breaking connection () can be manually separated without tools, in particular by bending about a bending axis (A).

Textile tool part pair and method for equipping a textile machine

A stitch forming element for a stitch-forming textile machine, wherein the textile machine includes a stitch-forming element carrier with at least one guide channel for guiding at least one stitch-forming element. The stitch-forming element includes a longitudinal axis and a vertical axis and a first recess with a lower edge, an upper edge, an open first end and a closed second end for stitch formation. The stitch-forming element further includes a second recess with a lower edge, an upper edge, an open first end and a closed second end for cleaning the at least one guide channel. The stitch-forming textile machine includes a stitch-forming element carrier with at least one guide channel, and at least one such stitching element. The least one stitch-forming element with its second recess is guided in the at least one guide channel.

A loop-forming process includes moving a plurality of system components () relatively to a needle bed (). The system components () contact threads () for forming loops. At least one spacer () is placed between at least two adjacent system components () of the plurality of system components () and defines the distance () between the two adjacent system components (), the spacer () being in mechanical contact to the two adjacent system components (). The spacer () is placed away from and does not contact threads () and is moved with respect to the needle bed (). The spacer () is also moved with respect to both of the two adjacent system components () at least for a period of time during the loop forming process. An equivalent device is also disclosed and claimed.

Loop-forming method and device

A knitting tool (), preferably a latch needle, intended for fast-running knitting machines has a meandering shaft with reduced-thickness regions. The meandering shaft is adjoined by a straight shaft extension () which likewise has a reduced-thickness portion (). The shaft extension () is distinguished from the shaft () by way of its height H, which is less than the height Hof the shaft (). The reduced-thickness region () of the shaft extension () has a length which is at least much greater than the length of the stitch-forming structure () carried by the shaft extension (). Preferably, the reduced-thickness region () is longer overall than the non-reduced-thickness region of the shaft extension (). With this configuration, a surprisingly efficient high-speed-compatible knitting tool () is created.

A knitting device () comprising a needle bed () and knitting tools (), wherein the needle bed () is designed so as to be without joints and seams in view of the configuration of its channel walls () as well as perpendicularly to the floor () of the channel through the base body () of the needle bed (). The channel depth of the individual guide channels () is preferably less than three times the channel width. Consequently, in particular in the case of extremely fine needle divisions, the resultant channel walls () are robust and stable and can be subjected to a hardening or coating treatment. The reduced overall weight, the smaller friction surfaces, and the sturdier design of the knitting device enable the operation at greater knitting speeds and with greater rotational accelerations, in particular in reciprocating mode, and an overall savings of lubricants and energy.

A cutting needle () for knitting machines and similar applications has been provided, said cutting needle having a needle body () on which a knife () is detachably held, preferably by means of a detent device (). Such a cutting needle () reduces the maintenance costs of knitting machines and discloses ways for optimizing needle bodies () and knives () in view of manufacturing technology and materials.

In order to reduce the impact speed of a latch () of a needle () in back position by reducing the acceleration effect originating from a half stitch (), the upward jaw slope () of the needle () is subdivided into different regions. A first section () ascends at a relatively large acute angle &#x3b3; of, for example, up to 20&#xb0;, preferably 16&#xb0;. Just after the half stitch () has contacted the inside () of the latch (), said half stitch arrives on a second section () of the upward jaw slope (). The second section () is a straight section which ascends at a smaller acute angle &#x3b2; of, for example, only 14&#xb0; or less. Consequently, an acceleration effect from the half stitch () on the latch () is avoided over a wide pivot range of said latch. Preferably, this acceleration-free pivot range is at least 90&#xb0;, preferably greater than 110&#xb0;.
