The insulation material precursor can be characterized in that a layer of resin on each of two outer sides of a core laminate of interconnected polyester nonwovens and a polyester film is at the B-stage and has a weight fraction of at least 5% of boron nitride.

In the hardened state, an insulation material produced therefrom is suitable, for example, to be used as an insulation barrier between a low-voltage winding and a high-voltage winding of a transformer winding.
