The present invention relates to a polymer powder which comprises polyamide, and to the use of this powder for shaping processes, and also to moldings produced from this polymer powder. The shaping processes are layer-by-layer processes which use powders, where regions of the respective layer are selectively melted via introduction of electromagnetic energy. The selectivity may&#x2014;with no intention of restricting the invention thereto&#x2014;be achieved via masks, application of inhibitors, of absorbers, or of susceptors, or via focusing of the energy introduced. After cooling, the regions then solidified can be removed in the form of moldings from the powder bed.

The epoxidation of cyclic, at least monounsaturated alkenes is conducted by a process, which comprises conducting the epoxidation of a cyclic, at least monounsaturated alkene in the presence of an oxidant in a reaction medium that contains at least 1% by weight of the saturated cyclic alkane corresponding to the cyclic, at least monounsaturated alkene. In a preferred embodiment the reaction medium contains at least 2.5% by weight of the saturated cyclic alkane corresponding to the cyclic, at least monounsaturated alkene.

Process for the epoxidation of cyclic alkenes

A thermoplastic resin composition, which comprises (a) from 5 to 85 parts by weight of a melted or remelted preliminary molding compound consisting of from 60 to 98 parts by weight of polyphenylene ethers, 40 to 2 parts by weight of polyoctylenes, from 0.1 to 5 parts by weight of maleic anhydride and from 0.1 to 5 parts by weight of a further acid derivative which has a melting point below 100.degree. C. and which is selected from the group consisting of an unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid having up to 14 carbon atoms, an anhydride thereof, which excludes maleic anhydride, and an ester of mono- or dicarboxylic acid with an alcohol of up to 6 carbon atoms; and (b) from 95 to 15 parts by weight of an aliphatic homopolyamide or a copolyamide containing a preponderant amount of aliphatic monomer units.
