A telecommunications apparatus includes a switching matrix. The telecommunications apparatus also includes a plurality of conductive user output locations and a plurality of conductive network input locations. For any given user output location there exists a conductive path coupling the given user output location to a corresponding network input location. The telecommunications apparatus also includes a plurality of switches. For any given conductive path, a switch is interposed therein, and each switch has a first state in which the given conductive path is unaltered, and a second state in which the given conductive path is altered, so that the given conductive path couples the corresponding user output location to the switching matrix. The aforementioned telecommunications apparatus may be networked with other such telecommunications apparatuses.

Telecommunication distribution device with multi-circuit board arrangement

A switching field for electromechanically switching electrical signal lines with crosspoints. The parts forming the crosspoints comprising membranes, at and between which further parts of the circuit are disposed. The switching field is particularly for communication and data transfer applications. The cross points are disposed matrix-shaped manner and signal lines assigned to the individual crosspoints. The crosspoints are composed of at least two contact surfaces which are movable relative to each other, to the one contact surface, a permanent magnet, and to the other contact surface, a ferromagnetic material with a coil assigned thereto.

Switching field

The invention relates to a method for the digital, bidirectional data transmission on an optical waveguide. For either direction of the data transmission, light pulses having the same frequency are used. The pulses to be transmitted are reduced from an original width T.sub.b to a width T.sub.r, the pulse-to-pause ratio T.sub.r (T.sub.b -T.sub.r) having to be smaller than one. The second transmitter/receiver unit is allowed to transmit during a reception pause (T.sub.b -T.sub.r) only. In order to achieve an optimum distribution of the optical pulses on the optical waveguide 3, the first transmitter/receiver unit 1 measures the timing on the optical waveguide 3 and causes, if required, by a modify signal, the second transmitter/receiver unit 2 to a modified transmission time of its optical signals. Thereby, a control loop is established, automatically achieving an optimum pulse distribution on the optical waveguide, within certain limits (FIG. 3 ).
