A method of object status detection for objects supported by a shelf, from shelf image data, includes: obtaining a plurality of images of a shelf, each image including an indication of a gap on the shelf between the objects; registering the images to a common frame of reference; identifying a subset of the gaps having overlapping locations in the common frame of reference; generating a consolidated gap indication from the subset; obtaining reference data including (i) identifiers for the objects and (ii) prescribed locations for the objects within the common frame of reference; based on a comparison of the consolidated gap indication with the reference data, selecting a target object identifier from the reference data; and generating and presenting a status notification for the target product identifier.

Method and apparatus for object status detection

A method includes: obtaining, from an image sensor mounted on a mobile automation apparatus, an image representing a plurality of items on a support structure in a facility; responsive to detection of the items in the image, for each item: obtaining an item region defining an area of the image containing the item; obtaining a performance metric corresponding to the item; encoding the performance metric as a visual attribute; and generating an item overlay using the visual attribute; and controlling a display to present the image, and each of the item overlays placed over the corresponding item regions.

A product status detection system includes a mobile automation apparatus having a sensor to capture data representing a shelf supporting products, responsive to data capture instructions. A method, device and system for picking items in a warehouse a method of controlling picking of items in a warehouse is provided. The method comprises: receiving, at processor of a mobile device, using a communication interface of the mobile device, location sensitive data associated with at least one item to be picked within the warehouse, the mobile device comprising the processor, the communication interface and a display; and, rendering, at the display using the processor, instructions for picking the at least one item in the warehouse, the instructions including the location sensitive data, the instructions updated to emphasize different subsets of the location sensitive data based on a current location of the mobile device relative to a location of the at least one item in the warehouse.

Method, device and system for picking items in a warehouse

A method and apparatus for activating a trigger mechanism at a data capture device having a touch display, and a data capture module is provided. In operation, a first region associated with a first application and an input region is provided on the touch display. An input is received at the device, including at least a touch sensor input from the touch display. Based on the input, an obtained input pattern may be identified. The identified input pattern may include at least one of a spatial pattern, a temporal pattern, a touch size and a hard-tap. When the identifying is successful, either an input may be provided to the first application or the trigger mechanism may be activated to initiate a data capture at the data capture module. Alternatively, when the identifying is successful, an operation associated with the first application may be performed or a mode of operation of the data capture device may be changed to a second mode.

Apparatus and method for activating a trigger mechanism

A novel capacitive sensing keyboard allows for keypads to be easily changed for repair or reconfiguration purposes. The keypads can be made of a deformable and resilient material, such as an elastomer, which can provide tactile feedback to a user and which are relatively inexpensive to manufacture. An array of overlying pairs of driver elements and sense elements are located adjacent the keypad and changes in the dielectric value of materials about the driver/sense element pairs are detected when a key on the keypad is pressed by a user. These detected changes are processed in view of a defined key map to determine which key or keys have been pressed by the user.
