Provided is a method of forming a conductive polymer composite. The method includes forming a mixture. The mixture includes a first thermoplastic polymer, a second thermoplastic polymer and a plurality of metal particles. The first thermoplastic polymer and the second thermoplastic polymer are immiscible with each other. The plurality of metal particles include at least one metal that is immiscible with both the first thermoplastic polymer and the second thermoplastic polymer. The method includes heating the mixture to a temperature greater than or equal to a melting point of the metal.

A method of selective laser sintering is disclosed. The method comprises providing composite particles made by emulsion aggregation, the composite particles comprising at least one thermoplastic polymer and at least one carbon particle material. The composite particles are exposed to a laser to fuse the composite particles.

The present disclosure describes a polyester that contains plural pendant adjacent carboxylic acid or acid salt side groups for use in making a toner for use in imaging devices.

Carboxylic acid or acid salt functionalized polyester polymers

Environmentally friendly toner particles are provided which may include a bio-based amorphous polyester resin including camphoric acid, optionally in combination with a crystalline resin. Methods for providing these toners are also provided.

Toner compositions and processes

A branched polyester suitable for use in solvent-free emulsification, the branched polyester having a first original weight average molecular weight before undergoing solvent-free emulsification and a second weight average molecular weight after undergoing solvent-free emulsification, wherein the branched polyester has a structure that limits degradation of the polyester during solvent-free emulsification to less than about 20 percent of the first original weight average molecular weight, wherein the branched polyester comprises a compound of the formula described.

Robust resin for solvent-free emulsification

The present disclosure provides processes for producing toners by emulsion aggregation where the resulting toner particles have high pigment loadings and desired circularity. The methods include adding a metal, in embodiments a metal salt, at the beginning of coalescence, which surprisingly speeds the coalescence process and produces toner particles having a desired size and circularity for use in electrophotographic imaging systems.

Toner compositions

A discrete nanostructure formed by a method comprising providing an aliphatic multi-block copolymer. The aliphatic multi-block copolymer includes at least one polyester block and at least one functionalized polycarbonate block. The aliphatic multi-block copolymer, a deprotonating agent and water are mixed to form an aqueous mixture. The aqueous mixture is maintained at a reaction temperature suitable to result in self-assembly of the multi-block copolymer into nanoparticles.

Method for generation of nanoparticles

A solid ink including an ink vehicle and a colorant, the colorant includes an orange colorant and a red colorant, where the orange colorant absorbs light having a wavelength of from about 400 to about 560 nm, and where the red colorant absorbs light having a wavelength of from about 510 to 580 nm. The ink substantially matches PANTONE&#xae; Red 032 or PANTONE&#xae; Warm red.

Solid red ink formulations

A toner includes a polymeric resin, a colorant, and a small molecule crystalline aromatic monoester having a molecular weight less than 1,000 g/mol. The polymeric resin may be an amorphous resin and a mixture of the amorphous resin and the crystalline aromatic monoester may be characterized by a reduction in glass transition temperature from that of the resin and by the lack of a melting point for the crystalline aromatic monoester as determined by differential scanning calorimetry, the enthalpy of fusion for the crystalline aromatic monoester in the mixture being measured to be less than 10% of the enthalpy of fusion of the crystalline aromatic monoester in pure form. Furthermore, the toner may be configured to have a crease fix minimum fusing temperature (MFT) less than or equal to the crease fix MFT of a benchmark ultra-low-melt emulsion aggregation toner. Suitable crystalline aromatic monoesters may include 2-Naphthyl benzoate.

Super low melt toner having crystalline aromatic monoesters

The present disclosure provides for enzymatic polymerization to produce polyester resins suitable for use in manufacturing toners. In embodiments, crystalline copolymers, which are polyesters, may be synthesized from lactones, cyclic anhydrides, cyclic carbonates, and combinations thereof. These crystalline copolymers, in turn, may be utilized in the synthesis of toner particles.

Red toners that approximate PANTONE&#xae; Red 032 and PANTONE&#xae; Warm Red are described. The colorant includes an orange colorant and a red colorant, where the orange colorant absorbs light having a wavelength of from about 400 to about 520 nm, and where the red colorant absorbs light having a wavelength of from about 500 to 580 nm.
