A battery manager includes a pattern estimator, a prediction engine, and a charging scheduler. The pattern estimator estimates a driving pattern of an electric vehicle. The prediction engine predicts a charging parameter based on at least one of the driving pattern or driver charging behavior. The charging scheduler outputs the charging parameter to control charging of a secondary battery of the electric vehicle. The pattern estimator may estimate the driving pattern based on information from at least one information source of the electric vehicle. The prediction engine predicts the charging parameter of the secondary battery in preparation of a future use of the electric vehicle.

The vehicle described herein employs a mu logic module. The mu logic module monitors vehicle operating conditions, and based on those operating conditions determines a road surface mu in response to a wheel slip event. The road surface mu is then used to determine a drive force to minimize or control the wheel slip event. The mu logic module continually monitors and adjusts the drive force provided to at least one of the wheels to maximize the applied drive force, while stabilizing and controlling wheel slip events to ensure safe operation of a vehicle.

A method and system for varying an output of a driveforce unit based on load data. The present invention includes an automobile including a driveforce system. The driveforce system includes a driveforce unit for generating an output according to a driveforce map, a memory for storing the driveforce map, a load determination unit for determining a load data indicating a load on the automobile, a speed sensor for detecting speed data indicating a speed of the automobile and/or an acceleration of the automobile, an acceleration input device for detecting acceleration input data indicating a percent application of the acceleration input device, and a processor. The processor receives the acceleration input data, the speed data, and the load data, and adjusts a driveforce curve in the driveforce map to maintain a speed of the automobile, even when the load data indicates an increased or decreased load on the automobile.

Method and system for varying an output of a driveforce unit based on load data

An automobile comprising a continuously variable transmission ('CVT') system including an acceleration input device, a CVT, and a processor. The acceleration input device generates acceleration input data indicating an amount of change in the acceleration input device, and a rate of change in the acceleration input device. The CVT includes a power source and a transmission output system. The power source operates at a transmission input speed, while the transmission output system operates at a transmission output speed. The transmission input speed over the transmission output speed comprises a gear ratio. The processor analyzes the acceleration input data to determine a target gear ratio. The processor can instruct the CVT to change the gear ratio to the target gear ratio at a rate corresponding to the rate of change in the acceleration input device.

Method and system for adaptive continuously variable transmission gear ratio control

A control system for a vehicle that is towing a trailer, the control system including a lateral acceleration sensor coupled to the vehicle for determining a lateral acceleration of the vehicle caused by the trailer swaying and generating a lateral acceleration signal based on the lateral acceleration of the vehicle and a transmission controller for receiving the lateral acceleration signal from the lateral acceleration sensor, comparing the lateral acceleration signal to a threshold, and prohibiting a gear switch signal from being transmitted to a transmission of the vehicle when the lateral acceleration signal exceeds the threshold.

Control system and method to inhibit automatic transmission downshifting during trailer sway

Systems and methods for shift control for vehicular transmission. A transmission may shift gears at designated transmission shift points. When the slope of the road grade encountered by a vehicle changes, the transmission shift points may be altered to provide better vehicle performance. According to one embodiment, road slope may be calculated based upon vehicle acceleration and acceleration caused by pedal depression. In such an embodiment, brake indication may be calculated from the same road slope calculation without the use of a brake signal switch. If brake application is indicated by the road slope calculation, transmission shifting may be adjusted to prevent poor vehicle performance.

Systems and methods for shift control for vehicular transmission

A method for adjusting downshift points of a vehicle transmission to assist vehicle braking in a vehicle having a brake system with a brake master cylinder and a brake pedal for actuating the brake system may comprise determining if the brake pedal is pressed. When the brake pedal is pressed, an intended brake effort may be determined and the actual deceleration of the vehicle may be calculated. A threshold deceleration for the intended brake effort may then be determined and compared to the vehicle deceleration. When the vehicle deceleration is less than the threshold deceleration for the intended braking effort a downshift point of the transmission may be adjusted. Thereafter the transmission may be downshifted using the adjusted downshift point.
