A solid oral product, e.g., chewing gum, lozenge, an edible foodstuff, and the like, which is useful for remineralizing subsurface dental lesions and/or mineralizing exposed dentinal tubules, contains (A) a discrete cationic agglomerate component composed of at least one water-soluble or partially water-soluble calcium salt and a first inert solid carrier, and (B) a discrete anionic agglomerate component composed of at least one water-soluble orthophosphate salt and a second inert solid carrier. The agglomerate nature of the cationic and anionic components keeps these components separate from one another during storage of the product but allows the cationic and anionic salts to be simultaneously released from the product upon mixing of the product with water and/or saliva to form a mixed aqueous solution such that the solution contains both calcium cations released from the calcium salt and orthophosphate anions released by the orthophosphate salt.

Remineralizing-mineralizing oral products containing discrete cationic and anionic agglomerate components and method of use

An oral product, preferably a toothpaste, effective for remineralizing subsurface dental lesions, mineralizing exposed dentinal tubules and whitening teeth stained with discoloring residues containing heavy metal ions such as Fe,, Mn,and Cu,, is composed of a first discrete part composed of a water-soluble or partially water-soluble calcium salt and optionally a non-toxic, non-calcium water-soluble divalent metal salt, and a second discrete part composed of a water-soluble orthophosphate salt and preferably a water-soluble fluoride salt. Further enhanced stain-removing properties without excessive abrasivity are imparted to the oral product when part (A) further contains an effective amount of an anhydrous dicalcium phosphate abrasive and part (B) further contains an effective amount of a silica abrasive.

A non-cariogenic, long-acting, slow dissolving solid antitartar mouth deodorant having improved taste, and a method of providing extended mouth odor reduction and control of tartar formation comprising a zinc compound which provides zinc, an ionone ketone terpene derivative and a mint flavor, as the essential active ingredients with a gluconate salt and an acidic pH to aid in zinc solubilization, in a sugar-free carrier.

Functional agglomerated speckles, for incorporation in dentifrices, include agglomerates of a water insoluble powdered functional material and water insoluble, ethanol soluble ethyl cellulose. Such speckles satisfactorily maintain their integrity and identity during processing of the dentifrice after addition of the speckles to the main dentifrice body but on storage, after packaging of the dentifrice in dispensing tubes, soften sufficiently so as to become essentially impalpable to one utilizing the dentifrice in brushing his teeth. Despite such softening the speckles continue to maintain their identity as speckles in the dentifrice. The speckles are especially useful in translucent or transparent gel dentifrices which contain components, such as flavoring and surface active agents, which may controllably soften the speckles on storage. Also described in the specification are methods for the manufacture of the mentioned speckles, dentifrices incorporating them, methods for manufacturing such dentifrices and such dentifrices packaged in end use dispensing containers.

A dentifrice of desirable rheological properties suitable for extrusion from a mechanically operated or presssure differential dentifrice dispenser, which dentifrice comprises a polishing agent including dicalcium phosphate or a siliceous polishing material and a gelling agent containing iota-carrageenan or a mixture of iota-carrageenan with a cellulosic gelling agent such as sodium carboxymethyl cellulose.

This disclosure relates to effervescent denture soak compositions having stability and sustained effervescence comprising an acid anhydride, a solid organic acid, a solid inorganic carbonate and oxidizing agents. The product is especially suitable as a mouthwash and rinse.
