Cellular connections can be used to provision non-cellular devices such as internet-of-things (IOT) devices. For example, IoT devices can comprise Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular capabilities. However, the cellular capability can be used to provision the IoT devices using non-internet protocol data delivery to prevent security vulnerabilities. Data can be transmitted to the IoT device using core elements without using an IP stack. Thus, IoT device configurations and the keys can be provisioned over-the-air without the use of internet protocol data.

Secure provisioning for wireless local area network technologies

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device in which a processing system detects installation of a subscriber identity module (SIM) on a communication device configured for connection to the network; the SIM includes a radio policy manager (RPM) provided by the network operator to manage network policies. The system also monitors connection of the communication device to the network and communications between the SIM and a processor of the communication device. The RPM determines whether the communication device is compliant with the network policies; if the communication device is not compliant with the network policies, the RPM causes the connection of the communication device to the network to be disabled. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Subscriber identity module based radio policy manager

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a network device that comprises a processing system including a processor and a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations. The operations include obtaining timing advance data regarding a communication device served by the network; the timing advance data is collected by a network element coupled to the network device, and the network element communicates with the communication device using control-plane signaling. The timing advance data is processed using location data regarding the network element to determine a geolocation of the communication device. The geolocation is stored at a storage device; the network device and storage device are included in a secure portion of the network. The geolocation is provided to equipment of a network customer accessing the secure portion of the network via a secure interface. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Cellular device geolocation based on timing advance data

Cellular connections can be used to provision non-cellular devices such as internet-of-things (IoT) devices. For example, IoT devices can comprise Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular capabilities. However, the cellular capability can be used to provision the IoT devices using non-internet protocol data delivery to prevent security vulnerabilities. Data can be transmitted to the IoT device using core elements without using an IP stack. Thus, IoT device configurations and the keys can be provisioned over-the-air without the use of internet protocol data.

Internet-of-things (IOT) devices can be identified based on specific behavioral patterns when their identification data is unknown. Previously identified IOT devices with similar behavioral patterns can be used as a baseline from which to compare data that is available about unknown IOT devices. For example, an IOT device can be pooled with a group of IOT devices based on the frequency with which they connect to a wireless network. Additionally, a confidence level of the unknown device being associated with the group of IOT devices can be generated based on such comparison data.

Facilitation of predictive internet-of-things device identification

A lightweight machine-to-machine (LWM2M) protocol can be utilized as a management layer for other applications pertaining to communication and retrieval of information from hardware peripherals. The applications can be managed via a client and the applications can communicate to the client via a standard proxy or message broker. Consequently, sensor codes can be decoupled from the client codes, thus allowing them to both be independent interchangeable components of a specific device's architecture. Therefore, sensors can be added, removed, and/or manipulated without modifying the underlying management layer.

Facilitation of container management for internet of things devices for 5G or other next generation network

A more efficient internet-of-things (IoT) manufacturing process can be achieved using hash functions to authenticate and identify IoT devices. Device data comprising manufacturer name data, device name data, software version data, and/or hardware version data can be feed through a hash function to generate hashed data. Additionally, same and/or similar data can be hashed via a manufacturing process. The two outputs from both sets of data can then be matched to determine the authentication of a device. Based on the authenticity of the device being verified, the IoT device can undergo a certification process as a part of the manufacturing process. This manufacturing process comprising hashed data can eliminate current manufacturing processes and allow for a unique identifier to be associated with the IoT device.
