A system for tracking a surgical instrument includes a pattern and a sensor assembly. The pattern is configured for positioning on a first surgical instrument and has a plurality of first markers longitudinally spaced relative to one another and a plurality of second markers circumferentially spaced relative to one another. The sensor assembly is configured to operably couple to a second surgical instrument and includes at least one sensor. The at least one sensor is configured to detect at least one of the first markers, thereby enabling determination of longitudinal translation of the first surgical instrument relative to the second surgical instrument, and to detect an at least one of the second markers, thereby enabling determination of rotation of the first surgical instrument relative to the second surgical instrument.

Systems and methods for tracking surgical instruments

A surgical system includes an ultrasound device and a surgical instrument. The ultrasound device includes a shaft having a body defining a longitudinal axis and including a lumen extending coaxially therethrough, and an ultrasound sensor assembly configured to enable ultrasound imaging of a field of view. The ultrasound sensor assembly is disposed at a distal end portion of the body of the shaft, offset relative to the longitudinal axis, and oriented such that the field of view is offset relative to the longitudinal axis. The surgical instrument is configured for removable insertion through the lumen of the body of the shaft and to extend distally from the distal end portion of the body of the shaft.

Devices, systems, and methods for trans-vaginal, ultrasound-guided hysteroscopic surgical procedures

An ultrasound device includes a frame and an ultrasound sensor assembly. The frame includes first and second rails spaced-apart relative to one another and a longitudinal section defining a longitudinal axis. The longitudinal section has a distal end portion. The ultrasound sensor assembly configured to enable ultrasound imaging of a field of view and is attached to the distal end portion of the longitudinal section of the frame and oriented such that the field of view is disposed at an oblique angle relative to the longitudinal axis. A surgical system including the ultrasound device and a surgical instrument insertable therethrough is also provided.

A method of determining a pressure of a body cavity with a controller of a fluid management system includes determining a pressure and a volume of a cuff disposed about a collapsible bag, determining a volume of the collapsible bag based on the pressure and the volume of the cuff, and determining a pressure of the collapsible bag based on the volume of the collapsible bag. The method also includes calculating a fluid flow from the collapsible bag into a body cavity from the collapsible bag and determining a pressure of the body cavity based on the fluid flow.

A surgical system includes a fluid source including a fluid inflow tube, a fluid delivery device coupled to the fluid inflow tube and configured to deliver fluid from the fluid source into a patient, a surgical instrument, and a control box coupled to the surgical instrument. The control box includes one or more waste heat-generating electronic components and a heat pipe assembly disposed in thermal communication with the one or more waste heat-generating electronic components. The fluid inflow tube is disposed in thermal communication with the heat pipe assembly of the control box such that the heat pipe assembly conducts heat away from the one or more waste heat-generating electronic components and heats fluid flowing through the fluid inflow tube.

A surgical instrument includes a handpiece including a housing and a motor disposed in the housing. An end effector assembly is operably coupled to the handpiece. The motor actuates the end effector assembly. A temperature measurement assembly is in the housing. The temperature measurement assembly measures a temperature of the motor. The temperature measurement assembly includes a printed circuit board (PCB) including an orifice extending through the PCB. An infrared (IR) sensor is on the PCB. The IR sensor transmits IR light to a temperature measurement location of the motor through the orifice of the PCB. The IR sensor detects IR light reflected from the temperature measurement location of the motor to determine a temperature of the temperature measurement location of the motor.

Each retention canister includes a rigid body. Each collection vessel is configured to engage a corresponding retention canister such that each rigid body at least partially receives one of the flexible bodies therein.

The housing has one or more inflation ports and one or more infusion ports. The proximal shaft assembly supports a first balloon. The first distal shaft assembly extends distally from the proximal shaft assembly and supports a first distal balloon. The second distal shaft assembly extends distally from the proximal shaft assembly and supports a second distal balloon. The first and second distal shaft assemblies define infusion openings in fluid communication with the one or more infusion ports. The infusion catheter may be inserted into a uterine cavity to occlude tubal ostia and an internal cervical OS of the uterine cavity for sealing the uterine cavity. A therapeutic agent may be delivered through the infusion catheter and into the sealed uterine cavity to treat the uterine cavity.

The collection vessel defines an internal volume and includes a top portion and a bottom portion. The collection vessel is transitionable between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration. The mounting stand includes an upper retainer and a lower retainer. The upper retainer of the mounting stand is configured to retain the top portion of the collection vessel and the lower retainer of the mounting stand is configured to retain the bottom portion of the collection vessel. The upper and lower retainers are configured to retain the collection vessel thereon in the expanded configuration.

A fluid collection system includes a vacuum source, a collection vessel, and a surgical drape. A fluid outflow line is connected between the surgical drape and the collection vessel. The fluid outflow line provides a path for fluid to the collection vessel. A suction line is connected with the collection vessel. The suction line provides suction to draw fluid through the fluid outflow line to the collection vessel. The suction line branches into a first suction line and a second suction line parallel with the first suction line. The first suction line and the second suction line are each connected with the vacuum source. A flow restrictor is disposed along the first suction line. A valve is disposed along the second suction line. The valve is opened in a pulsatile fashion when fluid is present in the surgical drape to increase a level of suction provided to the surgical drape.
