A QAM demodulator including a first calculation circuit including a real part returning circuit and an imaginary part returning circuit that derive, from a first complex symbol, an in phase (I) component and a quadrature phase (Q) component, respectively; first and second comparators for receiving the I and Q components, and based thereon, outputting respective bits of a bit string; first and second absolute value returning circuits that derive absolute values of the I and Q components ('abs(I)' and “abs(Q)”); first and second summers to sum each of abs(I) and abs(Q) with a first reference value and thereby provide first and second summed outputs; and a sub-QAM demodulator configured to QAM demodulate a second complex symbol and thereby output corresponding bits. I and Q components of the second complex symbol are based on the first and second summed outputs. The corresponding bits are remaining bits of the bit stream.

The present disclosure relates to an interference estimation method and apparatus. The apparatus includes at least one first processor, a serving channel matrix, and an interference channel matrix. The at least one first processor generates an input vector from at least one of a received signal vector corresponding to a received signal with a serving signal and an interference signal. The serving channel matrix corresponds to the serving signal. The interference channel matrix corresponds to the interference signal and a second processor. The second processor executes at least one machine learning model trained by sample input vectors and sample interference parameters. The at least one first processor provides the input vector to the second processor and determines interference parameters corresponding to the interference signal based on an output vector of the at least one machine learning model provided by the second processor.

Apparatus and method for estimating interference based on machine learning

A method of signal demodulation includes receiving, by a signal receiver, a first signal modulated by a symbol corresponding to a point in a constellation; generating, by the signal receiver and on the basis of the first signal, a modulation estimate; identifying, by the signal receiver and on the basis of the modulation estimate, a row or column of a candidate lookup table, the row or column corresponding to a region of the constellation; reading, by the signal receiver, from the row or column of the candidate lookup table one or more candidate points of the constellation, at least one among the one or more candidate points being more distant, from a center of the region, than a point, in the constellation, not among the one or more candidate points, and demodulating, by the signal receiver and on the basis of the one or more candidate points, the first signal.

Nested lookup table for symbol detection with initial candidate reduction

A system and method for receiving a quadrature amplitude modulation symbol. In some embodiments, the symbol has a plurality of bits and is associated with a point in a constellation of quadrature amplitude modulation points, each point of the constellation having associated with it a binary word. The method includes receiving a first analog signal carrying a modulation; performing initial estimation, to generate a first initial modulation estimate, for a portion of the first analog signal carrying a modulation; identifying, based on the first initial modulation estimate, a row of an initial candidate lookup table, the row corresponding to a region of the constellation; and reading from the row of the initial candidate lookup table a first plurality of initial candidate points of the constellation.

A method of operation of a communication system includes: calculating a shift distance of a received signal having a distortion; calculating an approximate likelihood of the received signal matching a transmitted signal from the shift distance; determining a bias factor from the distortion; and selecting a determined modulation maximizing a combination of the approximate likelihood and the bias factor for communicating with a device.
