A laundry treatment apparatus includes: a tub, a drum rotatably provided in the tub, an agitator rotatably provided in the drum, a driver coupled to the tub and configured to provide power for rotating at least one of the drum or the agitator, and a clutch unit provided between the driver and the agitator to transmit the power from the driver to at least one of the drum or the agitator. The clutch unit includes: a gear unit configured to rotate based on being engaged with the driver, a rotary shaft coupled to the gear unit and configured to rotate the agitator, a housing coupled to the drum and that accommodates the gear unit and the rotary shaft, a coupler configured to reciprocate between the housing and the driver and rotate the housing, a moving unit including the coupler to reciprocate the coupler, and an actuator reciprocating the moving unit.

A washing machine includes a tub, a drum, a motor, a pulsator, a coupler configured to couple and decouple a driving shaft of the motor and a drying shaft of the drum, and a clutch supporting the coupler and moving in an axial direction. The clutch includes driven protrusions extending in a vertical direction. The washing machine further includes a clutch supporter having a plurality of support surfaces that are spaced apart from each other in a circumferential direction and support lower ends of the driven protrusions located between the support surfaces when the coupler is at a connection position, and guide surfaces that are located above the support surfaces in the circumferential direction and configured to interfere with the upper ends of the driven protrusions based on the clutch moving upwards from the connection position to a disconnection position to thereby rotate the driven protrusions to positions corresponding to the support surfaces.

A washing machine includes a dewatering shaft for rotating a washing tub, a drive shaft for rotating a pulsator in the washing tub, a coupler that is configured to move up and down along the dewatering shaft, a solenoid module that moves the coupler upward, a coupler guide configured to be rotated by contact with the coupler when the coupler moves upward, and to maintain a position of the coupler or guide the coupler to another position when the coupler moves downward, and a controller that controls operation of the solenoid module based on applying one or more pulse signals to the solenoid module.
