An electrode assembly and a lithium secondary battery including the same. Heat generation of the electrode tabs is reduced by providing the electrode tabs at the outermost parts of the electrode assembly. An insulation member is attached at the boundary of the electrode tabs and the respective electrode plates. An insulation member is also attached to the uncoated portions formed on the outer circumference of the electrode assembly, thereby preventing internal short circuits either between an uncoated portion and an active material layer or between the uncoated portions. The electrode assembly can be used in pouch, rectangular and cylindrical lithium secondary batteries to prevent an internal short circuit within the batteries.

A secondary battery includes at least two electrode assemblies, each electrode assembly including a first electrode plate, a separator, and a second electrode plate, a case accommodating the at least two electrode assemblies, electrode terminals electrically connected to the at least two electrode assemblies, a cap plate sealing the case and exposing the electrode terminals to the outside, and at least one insulation member between the at least two electrode assemblies, the insulation member defining a space between the at least two electrode assemblies.

Embodiments provide a secondary battery, which can suppress deformation of an electrode assembly and a current collector by installing a damping member between a non-coating portion of the electrode assembly and a can. Pouch-type battery and method of assembling for the same

Disclosed are a secondary battery and a method of manufacturing the same. The method of manufacturing a secondary battery includes preparing a pouch case comprising a first case and a second case, seating an electrode assembly into the first case, covering the first case comprising a receiving part with the second case, and sealing a side portion of the first case and a side portion of the second case using a jig. The jig includes a first jig compressing the first case and a second jig compressing the second case. A first compressed width of the first case compressed by the first jig is less than a second compressed width of the second case compressed by the second jig.

Secondary battery and method of manufacturing the same

The pouch-type lithium secondary battery includes an electrode assembly; a pouch for accommodating the electrode assembly; and a variable tab in electrical connection with one electrode tab of two electrode tabs of the electrode assembly and being parallel to the other electrode tab and being drawn outward from the pouch, wherein the position of the variable tab is adjustable with respect to the electrode tab in electrical connection therewith. Therefore, the present invention is capable of achieving easy positional adjustability of an electrode tab protruding outward from the pouch, during a battery assembly process. In addition, the present invention is capable of taking prompt measures in response to consumer demands by improving the design freedom of a battery pack particularly in a large-area battery.

Pouch-type lithium secondary battery having a variable tab

A pouch type lithium secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly including electrode tabs respectively connected to two electrodes, the two electrodes having different polarities; and a case to house the electrode assembly such that the electrode tabs extend to the outside of the case, wherein one stepped part through which the two electrode tabs simultaneously extend is formed in a sealing portion of the case. In the electrode sealing portion of the pouch type lithium secondary battery having short width, sealing of the case is improved by the one stepped part, thereby improving efficiency of the manufacturing process of the battery.

Terminal of rechargeable battery and method of manufacturing the same

A pouch type battery pack, including: a first pouch battery and a second pouch battery adjacent to the first pouch battery, wherein the first and second pouch batteries are combined by bonding an edge of the first pouch battery and an edge of the second pouch battery to each other. Accordingly, the bare cell can be separated without being damaged when the pouch battery is separated from the battery pack. Furthermore, the heat radiation performance is improved by including a heat radiation member between the two pouch batteries when the pouch batteries are stacked.
